Mark says: I eat here quite regularly and it is definitely my favourite BBQ place in Sydney. BBQ Pork & Salt & Pepper Beef are my favourite dishes. Try their San Choy Bow too.
Great value food - you can easily eat for 2 for less than $20.
madaboutfood says: Chatswood BBQ King at 377 Victoria Ave has often been confused with Chatswood BBQ Kitchen across the road. To add further to the confusion it has just been renamed Chatswood BBQ & Hotpot with its signage screaming red text on a bright yellow background. Whatever the name, this place serves excellent Cantonese "comfort" food. Three friends and I had an excellent meal here recently - Mongolian lamb, Salt & Pepper King Prawn, Chinese broccoli with ginger sauce. We weren't that hungry and 3 dishes plus rice were enough. The veggies were green, crisp and cooked to perfection. The bill? $58. We couldn't complain. We were rushing for a movie, and were in and out in 45 minutes. I agree it does not have the best ambience but if that's what you're looking for then you should head for an upmarket Chinese restaurant, and pay double the price. Reviews have criticised its llack of service, poor decor, carpets, but you know what? You don't come to a place like this for the ambience, you come here for the food. In Malaysia (where I come from), and Singapore (where I lived for years), the "lack of ambience" doesn't bother the locals, it's the food that counts. The wait staff can sometimes be unattentive, but they are polite and efficient. Tip: Get an Asian friend to help with menu selection. I'd come here anytime for quick, authentic Cantonese food
