Mrs Balls Peach Chutney 70 years in the making,many other flavours, best straight from the bottle or on a roast, bake, braaivlies what a flavour. From The Spillers Peri Peri not strong,heaven in the making when used with Prawns,The Sandwich spread which I so enjoyed so much as a child and the Anchovette paste which you can actually taste the Anchovies.Not forgetting the boerewors and the steaks and the hundreds of other items

What a pity the below are not stock items yet?


That beautiful chopped Liver(made from chicken livers)beautiful on boiled bagels or thick rye bread with pickled cucumber a taste of its own
But here it comes. Where are the fresh guavas to stewed and put in the fridge till ice cold?
The boiled bagels and the unbelievable smoke Snoek From Kaadstad af, nothing like it for a quick snack. The pickled brisket on thick rye bread with Pickled cucumber. Not Gherkin ,cucumber with schmaltz on the bread(Its like a chicken fat ,but is made from vegetables nowadays, a not to be forgotten treat.Samousas slightly curried with vegetable centres and not forgetting those sweetipies(thick chocolate melted on to marshmallow with a biscuit at the bottom and those Squash boiled till stringy and served with a blob of butter
either with meat or fish as a vegetable. Not forgetting the cook sisters the queens pudding an last but far from least,Ox tail, Zimbabwe dish,baked in the oven with syrup and beans, you can suck or chew the bones forever, Come on all you St Ives and Castlehill people, Mowbray road is not that far! As an Ex Capetonian I challenge you to Visit Springbok delights and write your own review.

Mark says: Springbok Delights is a friendly butchers/deli that produces a variety of South African specialties as well as stocking Non-South African items such as Marmite!
I dropped by here to pick up some beef biltong (South African dried meat), as I heard that it was really tasty. Certainly proved to be the case!
Located just at the bottom of Mowbray rd, it is worth dropping by if you are in the Lane Cove area - I'll be coming back to sample the Ostrich biltong!
