These caftans are easy, breezy and great for the summer heat, from just $15

0

Clear some space in your closet: Caftans are having a moment, and we’re here for every part of this “Andre Leon Talley/Nana in a housecoat fantasy,” as one fan jokingly put it. Today’s caftans have all the dreamy elegance of Sharon Tate and every bit of Mrs. Roper’s iconic sass — and if you’re old enough to know who they are, you’re old enough to understand that caftans are tailor-made for the dog days of summer.

We rounded up some of Amazon’s most popular caftans, picking our favorites of the bunch. These effortlessly regal frocks shine just as brightly on the beach as they do at an alfresco dinner. Want to feel fabulous when you’re just hanging out? These caftans are casual perfection at home too — and they start at just $15.

Amazon

This popular caftan is all about drapey, waistless glamour! It’s practically begging for fine jewelry, glittery sandals and an evening bag. The best part? It’s only $15.

“Love, love, love!” wrote an enthusiastic shopper. “This beautiful caftan makes me feel cool and fancy-free! Really hits the spot during the summertime!”

Amazon

Talk about a caftan you can live in! We’re smitten with this bold blue pattern, but you can choose from dozens. This one’s a bit more delicate — it’s hand-wash only — but you pay just $15 for a tres luxe-looking piece.

“Coolest outfit on the planet … It’s simple elegant and easy to wear and to care for. What more can I say? It is the epitome [of] the no-fuss life!” wrote a happy shopper.

$19 at Amazon

Amazon

Pair this traditional, maxi-length caftan with heels, sandals, flats — it’s as versatile as it is glamorous, and it washes like a dream. Choose from more than a dozen patterns, from soft to bright.

“Feeling like a queen,” wrote one of more than 10,000 five-star reviewers. “I absolutely cannot get enough of this caftan. It is beautiful. I feel more beautiful … almost regal.”

$20 at Amazon

Amazon

Ready to step up your caftan style? This incredibly vibrant frock will do the trick. Whether you’re covering up at the beach or sashaying all over a cruise ship, it’s extravagant but low-maintenance.

“This just makes you feel like you should be [on] a terrace in the Mediterranean!” proclaimed a reviewer. “I’ve gotten so many compliments, which is always nice, but to be honest it’s just nice to feel comfortable and cute with so little effort.”

$23 at Amazon

Amazon

If your vibe is understated elegance, this solid Turkish maxi is the caftan for you. It comes in stunning solids, including this popular rust hue. And it looks chic on all kinds of figures — it’s one-size-fits-all!

“Mrs. Roper had the right idea,” wrote a pleased customer. “I’m so glad caftans have made a comeback. Great for lounging around the house, but [you] still look put together if someone drops by. Also very slimming!”

$28 at Amazon

Amazon

This one may not be called a caftan, but it fits like one. It’s easy enough to dress up or down, and the cotton fabric makes it extra breezy. It comes in a range of striped colors, with buttons from top to bottom and easy-to-roll-up sleeves. (Psst, if you need a little more air, you could leave a few bottom buttons undone.)

“Was looking for a classic oversized-shirt-style caftan and this checks all the boxes,” said one shopper. “Pockets are great, side slits give it a little less of a fully covered look, but still not too high. Fabric quality was better than expected for this price, not see-through at all.”

$29 at Amazon

Amazon

Not only is this caftan a unique button-down style, but it’s also made of quick-drying viscose. It’s great for poolside or an island-hopping vacay, as it won’t wrinkle easily.

“Life-changing and fabulous,” wrote this fan. “If you want a ‘glamorous shut-in,’ ‘fun fashion explorer,’ ‘cute and comfortable’ [vibe], then these are definitely worth getting.”

$29 at Amazon

Amazon

Go full Greek goddess in this embroidered caftan that’s only missing a laurel crown. It’s loose, flowy and comes with a side slit, and it’s perfect poolside or for brunch on the beach.

One happy camper wrote, “Ordered it to wear to an outdoor July wedding knowing it was going to be super hot. I am 5’9″, and it was the perfect length. Material is soft, light, but not sheer, and dress is flowy and perfect.”

$29 at Amazon

Amazon

Some women love the way a more traditional, boxy caftan flows. For others, there’s this billowy caftan, which comes in nine prints including this pretty blue and white. It’s one-size-fits-all, from small to XL.

One shopper wrote, “Always nervous about a one-size garment with my height, but the fit is just perfect. True midi length, which is just what I wanted. Even more cute in person.”

$31 at Amazon

Amazon

A vertical stripe down the front of this vibrant caftan has an instant slimming effect, and we’re here for it. This light, breathable frock is so much fun you’ll never want to take it off.

“At first I thought this was just going to be a fun piece for around the house/beach, but once it showed up it was even better then I thought — I love it! Color is gorgeous — soft and flows beautifully,” one fan gushed.

$33 at Amazon

Amazon

Keep it simple with this ultra-breathable 100% cotton option, available in 14 simple solids, from neutrals to vibrant red and yellow. It has a flattering rounded neck and breezy 3/4-length sleeves.

“I feel elegant when I wear this,” said this five-star fan. “Needless to say, this is my go-to dress for the summer … I wear a slip with it because because you can see through it a bit, but that does not detract from my love of this beautiful, classy, comfortable, dress.”

An Asian city is named the safest destination in the world for travelers

0

Singapore is the world’s safest city for tourists, according to new research by Forbes Advisor.

The study, which analyzed factors such as crime, healthcare quality and risks of natural disasters, ascribed safety scores from 0 to 100 — with the safest cities receiving the lowest scores.

Based on the study’s assessment, Singapore scored 0 points.

Out of 60 analyzed cities, the Southeast Asian city boasted the lowest natural disaster risk, and the second lowest health and infrastructure risks.

The study also analyzed digital security risks, which it defined as the ability to freely use the internet without fear of online attacks or privacy violations. Singapore was deemed to have the second lowest digital security risk on the list.

After Singapore, the study ranked Tokyo and Toronto as the next safest cities for travelers. Tokyo was deemed to have the lowest health security risk, a testament to the quality of healthcare services in the city, and the fifth lowest infrastructure security risk.

Japan and Australia were the only countries to have two cities rank in the study’s top 10 list, which included:

  1. Singapore
  2. Tokyo, Japan
  3. Toronto, Canada
  4. Sydney, Australia
  5. Zurich, Switzerland
  6. Copenhagen, Denmark
  7. Seoul, South Korea
  8. Osaka, Japan
  9. Melbourne. Australia
  10. Amsterdam, Netherlands

Riskiest cities

Only one city received 100 points: Caracas, Venezuela.

It had the “highest health security risk, reflecting the low level and quality of healthcare services and infrastructure,” the study reported. Caracas’ crime rate also earned it the lowest travel safety rating from the U.S. State Department — a “Level 4: Do Not Travel” advisory.

“Do not travel to Venezuela due to crime, civil unrest, kidnapping, and the arbitrary enforcement of local laws. Reconsider travel due to wrongful detentions, terrorism, and poor health infrastructure,” the State Department’s website states.

Pakistan’s Karachi was deemed the second riskiest city in the study. Forbes Advisor categorized Karachi to have the highest personal security risk, as well as the fourth highest infrastructure security risk.

“Terrorism and ongoing violence by extremist elements have led to indiscriminate attacks on civilian, as well as local military and police, targets,” the U.S. State Department stipulated in a travel advisory published in June 2023, giving the country a “Level 3” advisory which cautions visitors to reconsider travel.

Myanmar’s Yangon came in third place for the world’s most unsafe city for travelers, followed by Nigeria’s Lagos, Manila in the Philippines and Dhaka in Bangladesh.

Xinhua Silk Road: International wine distributor DIVA wraps up 2024 wine futures season

0

BEIJING, July 23, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — International wine distributor DIVA recently has wrapped up its 2024 wine futures season, better known as “en primeur” season, with comparable results to its presale in last year thanks to its superb product quality.

From middle of June to mid-July, the company managed to weather the ups and downs of the Bordeaux futures market featuring an active European market and lackluster Asian sales and completed presale of over 300 Bordeaux Fine Wine products from reputed local estates.

Over two dozens of Bordeaux Grand Cru Classe 2023 vintages as Bordeaux futures for sale were sold out before being bottled during this year’s “en primeur” season, one of the most important events in the Bordeaux region.

These are largely attributable to Bordeaux vineyards’ efforts to ensure quality of the 2023 vintage last year when local climates turned out less ideal for grape growing than other years.

Despite the fact that renowned vineyards in Bordeaux dropped by 25 percent their wine prices in an attempt to further shore up sales amid the global economic weakness, their bumper harvest in 2023 offset related influences and resulted in the gratifying presale value this year.

Many famous estates such as Chateau Lafite Rothschild and Chateau Mouton Rothschild released their wine futures for the 2023 vintage at prices the same as four years ago, which were welcomed by the market.

Since February, DIVA took part in three wine and spirits exhibitions held in Paris of France, Germany and China’s Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to bring visitors the unique and mellow taste of premier wines from famous vineyards in Bordeaux and other regions.

As a distributor who boasts 40-plus years of wine trade history, DIVA has access to wine futures quotas for more than 300 wines from vineyards famed for wine production in the Bordeaux region.

The Museum of the Bible in the nation’s capital has opened a new exhibit that is offering a dive into the past, present and future of worship.

Titled “All Creation Sings,” the exhibit offers an interactive worship experience that is designed to “enlighten” guests by sharing the diversity, development and history of the practice of worship, according to museum staff.

Garrett Hinton, chief revenue officer at the Museum of the Bible, told Fox News Digital in an emailed statement that worship is more than just “the thing that we do at church on Sundays before the pastor gets up and gives the sermon.”

“As the Bible talks about worship, it’s so much more than that. So the story is the story of the Bible — and it’s taking you from Creation or Genesis all the way to Revelation,” said Hinton.

The name of the experience comes from Psalm 148.

“Let them praise the name of the Lord: for his name alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven.”

“All Creation Sings” takes museum visitors through four different parts, answering the question, “What is worship?”

The first act begins by recounting the story of creation.

“Worship is our purpose. That’s what we’re created for. So, God created us, and he created our universe. That’s where it all starts,” said Matthias Walther, chief marketing officer at the Museum of the Bible.

“And I think to discover this — to see the greatness of our Creation, the greatness of God’s design in our existence — it takes you to a humble, really reflective place.”

Act two explores “the development of the art of worship and its expression through numerous media,” according to the press release.

The third act highlights the power of scripture, detailing how the Bible shapes lives and societies.

The “All Creation Sings” exhibit is now open. “This state-of-the-art attraction” allows visitors to “soar across the Sea of Galilee, climb the stairs to the Temple Mount, explore the path of the good Samaritan and visit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre during midnight services,” according to the Museum of the Bible.  (Museum of the Bible)

Finally, the last act will help guests imagine “the future reality where all creation participates in joyful worship.”

The 6,500-square-foot exhibit is using innovative equipment such as scanning technology, projectors and responsive software to help guests worship as never before, the museum says.

“The idea of ‘All Creation Sings’ is that often people refer to worship as the 20-25 minutes of the songs being sung at Sunday service, but what we really wanted to do was open people’s eyes to see that worship is far more than that,” said Dylan Thomas, CREATR CEO and co-founder in a statement.

Lunit’s AI Solution Enhances Qatar’s National Breast Cancer Screening Program

  • Middle East’s first full-scale AI adoption for national screening marks Lunit’s latest milestone amid rapid expansion of global cancer screening initiatives

SEOUL, South Korea, July 22, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Lunit, a leading provider of AI-powered solutions for cancer diagnostics and therapeutics, today announced the implementation of its AI-powered breast cancer detection solution, Lunit INSIGHT MMG, in Qatar’s national breast cancer screening program. This marks the first nationwide adoption of AI in a national-level breast screening workflow in the Middle East. The partnership, set for an initial period of five years, demonstrates a long-term commitment to advancing breast cancer screening in Qatar.

Lunit successfully integrated Lunit INSIGHT MMG into the "Screen for Life" program of Qatar's Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC)
Lunit successfully integrated Lunit INSIGHT MMG into the “Screen for Life” program of Qatar’s Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC)

Starting June 2024, Qatar’s Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has integrated Lunit INSIGHT MMG into its “Screen for Life” program, the country’s national breast and bowel cancer screening initiative. The AI solution aims to enhance early detection of breast cancer, potentially reducing missed diagnoses and improving survival rates in Qatar’s triennial screening program.

“Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in Qatar, accounting for 32% of all female cancer cases[1],” said Dr. Sheikha Abu Sheikha, Director of Early Detection Programs at PHCC. “To address this, we’re integrating Lunit’s AI as a crucial second opinion for our radiologists. As the first country in the Middle East to implement AI across the entire screening program, we’re reinforcing Qatar’s commitment to high-quality healthcare for women across the country.”

The implementation follows a successful retrospective validation phase that began in March 2023. Satisfied with the performance and added value, two radiologists now read each mammogram while referring to Lunit INSIGHT MMG’s results, improving accuracy and efficiency in the screening process.

Lunit’s success in Qatar is part of a broader trend of the company’s expansion in business-to-government (B2G) cancer screening initiatives worldwide. Notable recent deployments include:

  • Australia: Supplying Lunit INSIGHT MMG to BreastScreen New South Wales
  • Sweden: Delivering Lunit INSIGHT MMG to Capio S:t Göran Hospital, marking the first instance where AI replaced one human reader in breast screening
  • Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: Providing the Lunit INSIGHT suite to Seha Virtual Hospital, connecting over 150 hospitals
  • Iceland: Implementing Lunit INSIGHT MMG for national breast screening, the first European country to deploy AI for the entire population

“Our collaboration with Qatar’s PHCC for the ‘Screen for Life’ will equip healthcare providers with a powerful new tool to enhance medical diagnostics,” said Brandon Suh, CEO of Lunit. “As we expand into national screening programs worldwide, we’re enhancing early cancer detection and reshaping preventive care. Each implementation brings us closer to our vision of making AI-assisted cancer screening more accurate and accessible to people around the world, regardless of their location.”

The “Screen for Life” program, implemented by Qatar’s PHCC, is a national initiative offering free breast and bowel cancer screening to eligible residents. This cornerstone of Qatar’s public health strategy aims to promote early detection through education, awareness, and accessible screening services.
