Stitched-up debutant Hugo Hall-Kahan saves the day for Adelaide after late goal review drama

0

Adelaide have held on for a rejuvenating 11.9 (75) to 10.14 (74) win over Geelong after a match-winning goal was overturned on review and changed to a behind.

More than 40,000 fans went wild when Darcy Fogarty, having a quiet game on a wet night at Adelaide Oval, appeared to secure victory from outside 50 with just minutes remaining.

But play was held up for a review with every player in position for the centre bounce.

The AFL review centre quickly determined Fogarty’s kick had brushed the goal post, reducing the Crows’ lead to one point.

That proved enough with Adelaide’s mid-season draftee debutant Hugo Hall-Kahan — just minutes removed from a head clash with a teammate that cut both of them open — earning a crucial free kick to end the Cats’ last venture inside 50.

Dan Curtin, who provided Fogarty with the winning set shot, then took an important mark to secure victory once and for all.

It marked Adelaide’s first win over Geelong since 2021 and just their second since the start of 2019.

Former Adelaide skipper Taylor Walker praised the “unbelievable” former graphic designer Hall-Kahan for his performance just eight days after being recruited to the club.

Hall-Kahan was previously picked up by Sydney in the 2022 mid-season draft but never debuted before being delisted 18 months later.

Hall-Kahan, boasting stitches on his nose, said it had been a “whirlwind” week since arriving at the Crows.

“I only had two training sessions. I started to come down a bit, settle in, and then obviously got the call-up on Monday (to debut) and everything catapulted again. It was unbelievable,” he said.

On the head clash, Hall-Kahan said: “I was just chasing and all of a sudden I was on the floor. It’s not broken, I don’t think, just a few stitches but I was glad to get back on because we had a few sore (teammates).”

Callum Ah Chee’s night ended early with a hamstring injury, with Jordon Butts (calf) and Toby Murray, hurt in the head clash with Hall-Kahan, also failing to see out the match.

Ah Chee had done a brilliant job on Geelong star Tom Stewart prior to facing the familiar feeling of being iced up on the bench.

Curtin (26 disposals) starred in one of his best games for the Crows, with Wayne Milera (24 disposals) and Rory Laird (23) also busy.

Walker and Ben Keays kicked two goals each.

Geelong (8-5) were well served by Brownlow Medal favourite Bailey Smith (34 disposals), Max Holmes (30) and Patrick Dangerfield (30).

Cats utility Stewart, who was held to 15 touches, will come under scrutiny for a bump that made contact with Ah Chee’s head or chest.

A fast-paced start produced two goals apiece in the opening 10 minutes but scoring quickly became tough in the wet conditions, which Dangerfield relished.

The Geelong veteran’s midfield move reaped 13 first-quarter disposals, 10 contested possessions, five clearances and a goal against his old side, who led 3.2 to 2.6 at the break.

Jack Martin had two of the Cats’ four first-half goals and teammate Ollie Henry took a spectacular mark with a ride on Sam Berry on the wing.

The Cats dominated centre clearances (9-3) and contested possessions (+14) in the first half and enjoyed more territory.

But they were inaccurate as the Crows led 6.3 to 4.9 at half-time, with Curtin influential and Ah Chee keeping Stewart (one intercept) largely under wraps to that point.

A run of four straight goals straddling the main break gave Adelaide a game-high 20-point lead midway through the third term before three in quick succession for Geelong set up a tight finish.

It got heated when Smith and James Peatling tangled off the ball, eventually resulting in the Cats star giving away an ill-disciplined free kick.

Brilliant goals from Keays and Walker gave the Crows the edge early in the final term.

They looked home when Dawson outmarked two Cats defenders and played on to kick his third goal from outside 50 metres.

Again Geelong hit back, kicking three straight goals and levelling the scores when Jack Bowes kicked his second.

But Fogarty’s long-range set shot gave the Crows back the lead for the final time.

Singapore Humanoid Robot Training Lab Powered by NVIDIA Accelerated Computing Technology

Establishes a “Human-Robot Co-Working” framework, positioning the Company to offer AI-enhanced labor solutions across hospitality, retail and other service environments

SINGAPORE, June 4, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — YY Group Holding Limited (NASDAQ: YYGH) (“YY Group” or the “Company”), an AI-native workforce management platform and integrated facility management (IFM) provider operating across Asia and beyond, today announced the next stage of the AI training data strategy it introduced on April 22, 2026: the launch of its Humanoid Robotics Training Lab in Singapore, complemented by pilot deployments of humanoid robots in two of Singapore’s leading commercial retail and hospitality facilities. Taken together, these initiatives form YY Group’s “Human-Robot Co-Working” framework, the foundation of the Company’s long-term plans for the commercialization of physical AI.

The Singapore lab will complement the Johor, Malaysia AI training and data collection facility YY Group announced in April. Both facilities will capture structured, real-world human activity data – drawing on the Company’s network of over 500,000 workers across hospitality, food and beverage, facility maintenance, security and other service roles – and use that data to train and refine service robots for deployment alongside human workers in live service environments. The Singapore lab, which will operate on NVIDIA accelerated computing technology, will also serve as an exhibition space for client demonstrations.

To augment its training data capture and transition these robotic capabilities from the lab to the market, the Company is partnering with a prominent shopping mall and luxury hotel in Singapore to pilot humanoid robot deployments in real-world service settings. They will work side-by-side with human professionals, allowing the Company to gather operational data and physical-interaction telemetry to further refine robots’ spatial awareness and task performance while also increasing human teams’ efficiency.

Mike Fu, Chief Executive Officer of YY Group, commented: “Our Human-Robot Co-Working framework is built on a simple principle: robots handle repetitive and physically demanding tasks while human workers focus on higher-value service. With the Johor facility, Singapore lab and pilot deployments underway, we are not just training robots; we are building a collaborative ecosystem where human expertise and robotic precision benefit one another. We are turning a unique data advantage – a network of more than 500,000 workers across 12 countries – into a new generation of AI-enhanced workforce solutions that can be replicated at scale, tapping into higher-margin revenue opportunities while creating value for human workers and operators alike.”

The Company’s AI training data and automation initiatives advance the Agentic and Robotic Automation module of the four-module AI framework the Company outlined in its May 11, 2026 Strategic Update, positioning YY Group to serve clients with hybrid workforce models that combine human talent and automation to address chronic labor shortages, and to supply structured real-world datasets to technology companies developing robotics and AI systems. Consistent with the disciplined capital approach reaffirmed in the Strategic Update, these initiatives are supported by the Company’s existing resources and do not alter its FY2026 revenue guidance of US$103 million to US$110 million or its path to profitability.

About YY Group Holding

YY Group Holding Limited (Nasdaq: YYGH) is an AI-native workforce management platform and integrated facility management (IFM) provider, headquartered in Singapore and operating across Asia and beyond. The Company’s intelligent workforce solutions platform, YY Circle, helps clients across hospitality, food and beverage, retail, and other service sectors predict, plan, and optimize workforce deployment. In YY Group’s IFM business, its 24IFM software platform and comprehensive IFM subsidiary portfolio support clients across hospitality, transportation, banking, retail, and mixed-use facilities.

As both business lines scale, the Company is systematically embedding AI and automation capabilities – progressing from intelligent decision support toward increasingly autonomous workforce management – to improve service quality, reduce deployment costs, and drive long-term margin expansion. Listed on the Nasdaq Capital Market, YY Group is committed to infrastructure innovation, measurable client outcomes, and long-term value creation.

CHIGEE Launches XR-1: A Screen-Free Motorcycle Dash Cam That Records Every Ride and Speaks Up When It Counts

Front-and-rear 1080P 60FPS recording, automatic start, voice alerts and hidden installation, now a 2026 MUSE Design Awards Gold Winner.

SHENZHEN, China, June 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — CHIGEE today announced the XR-1, a discreet motorcycle dash cam built for riders who want protection without extra complexity. The XR-1 starts recording the moment the motorcycle powers on, captures front and rear footage automatically, and confirms its status out loud — then tucks out of sight, leaving the cockpit clean and the bike’s original look intact.

Once the bike starts, it records continuously in the background, with loop recording overwriting the oldest clips so riders never have to clean up files. Proactive voice guidance monitors recording status, SD card, camera connection and system errors, speaking up the moment something needs attention — so riders set off knowing the device is ready, not hoping it is. Voice prompts are available in English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese and Korean.

When something goes wrong, the XR-1 protects what matters. Emergency Lock detects sudden impact or abnormal movement and locks the current clip so it can’t be overwritten, and helps preserve footage if power is cut without warning. Parking Guard keeps watch after the engine is off, waking from low-power standby to record knocks, tip-overs and hit-and-runs while the rider is away.

Footage quality is built on a 64-bit Arm Cortex-A53 processor — the same platform behind CHIGEE’s flagship AIO-6 display — driving 1080P recording at up to 60FPS, with Smart HDR, a 136° wide-angle view and intelligent stabilization for smooth, clear results in real riding conditions. Clips transfer to the CHIGEE GO app over a dedicated 5GHz Wi-Fi link at speeds above 10MB/s, fast enough to save and share before the helmet comes off.

Engineered to CHIGEE standards, the XR-1 main unit is rated IP69K with IP68 cameras, using PC+TPU dual-shot construction and an aluminum-alloy heat structure to withstand rain, vibration, heat and high-pressure washing. An optional GPS Remote Control adds handlebar control and ride tracking.

The CHIGEE XR-1 is now officially on sale at the official CHIGEE website, priced at US$219.

AFL clears troubled Geelong forward Tyson Stengle to make long-awaited return to play

0

The AFL has cleared troubled Geelong forward Tyson Stengle to return to play.

Under the AFL’s medical model, Stengle was not allowed to take the field for the Cats at any level as he battled a number of off-field issues.

WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE: Stengle cleared to play as Hill returns to training

Know the news with the 7NEWS app: Download today Arrow

As recently as April, the 2022 All-Australian’s career hung in the balance after he cut off all ties with his management and had little contact with anyone at Geelong.

To that point, he had spent much of the previous six months in Adelaide with a young daughter and his future was at a crossroads.

He then emerged for the first time in the Geelong rooms after the Cats’ Round 7 loss to Port Adelaide as he continued to work through his complex personal situation.

Since then, the premiership goalkicker has returned to Victoria and resumed training with the Cats, who are now hopeful he can play VFL as early as next week.

“I think the key issue here will be the conditioning of Tyson Stengle; is he fit enough to perform in a VFL match to avoid any soft tissue injuries?” Mitch Cleary said on Wednesday night’s edition of The Agenda Setters.

“Don’t forget, he had an interrupted pre-season, he came back, he went away again. So this has been an interrupted build-up for Tyson. They are going to want to make sure that when he does return, he’s bullet-proof in terms of his body.”

Nick Riewoldt said if ever there was a club who could navigate a complex situation like Stengle’s, it’s Geelong.

“Geelong have been the masters of managing players like this, and you are afforded that luxury when you have the record that Geelong do,” he said.

“You bank wins and there’s an important aspect of getting players cherry-ripe for finals. We’ve seen them do it with Dangerfield.

“So, that is good news. He makes them better. They just want him to come in and then stay in.”

At Collingwood, a similar narrative is unfolding at the time.

The Magpies’ 2023 Norm Smith medallist Bobby Hill, who, like Stengle, has also had significant time away from the club in recent months, is finally eyeing a return to play.

Hill appeared close to a return early last month before taking another period of leave, but re-emerged back at training on Wednesday.

“Great to see him back at training today. He was given a three-week leave of absence after the birth of his third child,” Cleary said.

“Collingwood’s been incredibly accommodating around Bobby Hill, but I understand there were conversations last week held between Bobby and key figures at the Collingwood footy club that Bobby essentially interpreted it as, ‘I need to get back and I’m running out of time’.

“Great to see him back today because if that didn’t occur, I think there would have been conversations to be had in future weeks around his contract.”

Bobby Hill has also made a return to training.

Cleary stopped short of calling it “an ultimatum” given to him by Collingwood, “But I think Bobby got the sense that, ‘If I don’t get back in the short-term, I’m running out of time to have an impact in season 2026’,” he said.

Riewoldt added: “He definitely makes them better. They’d be desperate for him to come back into a sputtering forward line.

“He’s banked a lot of credits and he would have with his teammates through his on-field performance.

“Would they be reaching a point now where there’s a level of frustration? There have been a lot of false starts here.”

Tom Morris: “Yeah, for sure. And there has been at Geelong as well with Tyson Stengle, there was last year with Jamara Ugle-Hagan, there was at Melbourne with Clayton Oliver as well.

“There’s no doubt players want Bobby Hill back in the team, but they’ve been frustrated because there’s a belief that he’s been a little bit unreliable across the journey, which I don’t think is too controversial to say.”

Cleary: “You say some players want him back. — there are also some players that want to see a level of trust built up still with Bobby Hill.

“Three weeks away for Bobby Hill from the footy club. He was just building up his fitness before he took this latest leave. So I think that’s going to reset now. He’s going to have to go again for a month in the VFL before he puts his name up for AFL selection.”

Beloved theme park to close for good, ending nearly 50 years of family memories

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Washingtonians are already mourning the impending loss of a beloved theme and water park, with many residents still in disbelief months after the closure was announced.

Wild Waves Theme Park, located in Federal Way, Washington, announced last year it would close at the end of the 2026 season.

The park’s final day is scheduled for Nov. 1. Months ahead of the closure, residents are heralding the end of an era.

Commenters have been weighing in on Wild Waves’ recent Facebook posts and hoping the park can still be salvaged.

“I hope we can find a new owner to help save the park,” one Facebook user wrote recently.

Still another user wrote, “Lots of fond memories to remember. Such a fun place to go. … Sad to see it closing down permanently.”

The park features an array of water rides and multiple roller coasters, including its signature wooden roller coaster, Timberhawk: Ride of Prey, according to its website.

In November, Wild Waves’ operator, Premier Parks, announced it would be shutting down permanently, citing mounting financial losses following the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Unfortunately, the rising cost of ongoing operations since reopening after the COVID shutdown has generated millions in losses, which forces us to discontinue operations at the end of our 2026 season.”

The park opened in 1977. It has since “welcomed millions of guests across the Pacific Northwest region, offering a unique combination of theme park thrills and refreshing water park fun,” the company said.

Essendon face ‘soft cap’ question as Brad Scott’s payout details emerge

0

Questions are suddenly being asked around Essendon’s “soft cap” management after it has come to light that the embattled club will pay out sacked coach Brad Scott in full this year.

The revelation comes after CEO Tim Roberts confirmed last week that the club could manage the financial impact of Scott’s departure, despite widespread concerns about soft cap pressures at Essendon, and across the competition.

Scott, who was thought to be earning between $800,000 and $1 million annually, will receive the payment for the remainder of this season which, importantly for Essendon’s next coach, means it won’t impact the soft cap in 2027.

“And the AFL have agreed that all that money will go into their soft cap this year,” veteran journalist Caroline Wilson said on Channel 7’s The Agenda Setters.

However, questions have been raised about how a struggling Essendon could have such a significant amount available in their soft cap (the money clubs can spend on their football department operations, including coaches, list managers, and fitness staff), when other clubs are reporting severe financial constraints.

AFL great Luke Hodge said it was impossible to fathom how Essendon could have “a spare million dollars” to pay Scott’s salary into this year’s soft cap.

“Did they go with less staff (this year)?” asked Hodge, while Collingwood premiership hero Dale Thomas asked, “Who are they paying there?”

AFL expert Kane Cornes said Essendon needed to explain themselves.

“If they have $800,000 spare at a struggling club, which could be (spent on) two development coaches, it could be a masseuse, it could be another doctor … with their injury list …. what are they doing? How could it not be spent?” Cornes asked.

“Now, I might be overreacting here, but I think at least the Bombers need to explain to their supporters how there could be, when clubs are screaming about how tight this is, how assistant coaches are underpaid, a spare $800,000 to $1 million that they can just hand a cheque to Brad Scott for doing nothing?

“We look forward to the explanation.”

The club has not confirmed whether welfare boss Ben Robbins and assistant coach Ben Jacobs, who both departed following Scott’s sacking, have been paid out for the remainder of the year.

If they resigned of their own volition, they may not be entitled to payouts.

“So there’s a chance that they are not getting paid at all because, of course, they quit,” Wilson said.

“Now, my gut feeling is that Essendon might have looked after them. I’m not 100 per cent sure. I don’t know. But remember, Andrew Dillon has made significant changes to the soft cap in the last two or three years. It has gone up, and it has gone up quite significantly.”

But Cornes said Jacobs would not be “getting paid a lot” and Robbins would not be on big dollars either.

But Wilson said it made sense Essendon had room in the soft cap given they could not lure Ken Hinkley to the club for a director of coaching role, and experienced assistant Daniel Giansiracusa left at the end of the 2025 season and joined Hawthorn.

“They weren’t able to replace him, really, with someone of his senior assistant coaching pedigree, so there are savings right there,” Wilson said.

“They looked at bringing in another senior football person. That didn’t happen. Has there been a deal done behind the scenes with the AFL? No one is admitting that, and maybe that’s happened, but I’m not sure the AFL would be super keen on that happening, although they clearly want to try and help Essendon get up again.

“All I’m saying is, next year, there is plenty of money to bring in someone like John Longmire, and I believe he is very much on that club’s radar, and the rest is history.”

The arrangement with Scott differs significantly from Sydney’s situation when Longmire resigned at the end of last season.

The Swans were forced to include some of Longmire’s payment in the following year’s soft cap, leaving them with a threadbare assistant coaching group of just three coaches.
