SEOUL, South Korea, March 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Ulsan University Hospital, under the Ulsan Industrial Education Foundation affiliated with HD Hyundai, launched a six-day large-scale medical mission in Subic on March 16, providing essential health care services to approximately 750 local residents.

The initiative, which ran from March 16 to March 21, mobilized a specialized medical team from Ulsan University Hospital alongside employees from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Philippines and local government officials. The mission focused on expanding healthcare access in the region while deepening ties between South Korean medical experts and the Subic community.

The initiative has been recognized as a model for corporate-hospital social contribution, combining Ulsan University Hospital’s medical expertise with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Philippines’ global infrastructure to foster sustainable growth alongside the local community.

Through its shipyard operations, HD Hyundai supports the Philippine Navy’s modernization efforts, producing a range of sophisticated fleet assets including frigates and offshore patrol vessels (OPV).

The mission coincides with HD Hyundai’s expanding maritime operations in the country. In May 2024, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering signed a lease agreement with Cerberus Capital Management for a portion of the Subic shipyard. By September 2025, the newly established HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Philippines reached a major milestone with the steel-cutting ceremony for its first vessel, a 115,000-deadweight-ton petrochemical product carrier.

Beyond commercial shipbuilding, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has emerged as a primary partner in the Philippine Navy’s fleet modernization program. The company has secured orders for 12 naval vessels, including frigates, corvettes, and OPVs. To date, every vessel delivered under these orders has been handed over ahead of schedule, reinforcing the company’s reputation for reliability and technical performance.

James Hird weighs in on Essendon’s dreadful start to 2026 as Tim Watson calls club ‘a dispirited organisation’

Essendon champion and former coach James Hird has spoken out about his club’s diabolical start to the 2026 season, and admits his phone was lighting up in the aftermath of the 63-point loss to Port Adelaide on Sunday.

Hird’s name continues to be mentioned as pressure ramps up on coach Brad Scott, and, appearing on 3AW radio station, he was directly asked about his phone activity after Essendon’s latest insipid effort.

“The Essendon natives are pretty restless, put it that way,” Hird said.

Hird — a premiership captain, a two-time premiership player, a Brownlow medallist, a Norm Smith medallist — is a much-loved figure at Essendon despite the fact he was the coach during the club’s infamous doping scandal.

And the 53-year-old said he had empathy for Scott and understood the current coach’s frustration with his players.

“You send your team out there with a game plan … and you expect them to do it, and they don’t execute,” Hird said.

“From the coaches’ box, it’s very hard to rectify that during the game.

“Look at Hawthorn, they’re fantastic at ball movement, you look at (the Western Bulldogs), they’re great around the contest, they get the ball to their forwards.

“You look at Essendon and you can’t see what they’re trying to do, and I think that’s the frustrating thing for the Essendon fans.”

Hird said the thing that Scott needed to urgently fix was the team’s contested game.

“I think if you’re building any team, you’ve got to start with the contest … there’s more goals scored off transition now and there’s more about ball movement and that’s a very important part of the game,” Hird said.

“But if you don’t get your contest … right from the start, you really rely on the other team to give you the ball back, or win it back to start your attack.

“I don’t think anyone who is an Essendon supporter went into this season thinking it was going to be a top-eight season.

“It was more we want to see the growth in younger players … we want to see the midfield connect with the forward line and we want to see a defence that stands up under pressure, not allow uncontested marks.

“So it will take time, and we understand that, but how do we see growth from the contest and defence, ultimately?”

AFL expert Kane Cornes unveiled a “wheel of blame” on Channel 7’s The Agenda Setters on Monday night, and apportioned some blame on Hird from his time as coach in the early to mid-2010s.

Scott held a significant portion at 19 per cent on the Cornes’ blame wheel, but that fell just under former list manager Adrian Dodoro (21 per cent), while the high-performance team (17 per cent) and Zach Merrett (11 per cent) were also key factors.

Hird was at four percent of the blame, disgraced biochemist Stephen Dank was at two per cent, while current players Darcy Parish and Ben McKay both featured at two per cent as well.

Cornes even had the fans on the wheel at three per cent.

The Bombers haven’t won a final since 2004 and that doesn’t look like changing this year.

Coaching legend Kevin Sheedy has championed a return of Hird to the club, while former player Dean Solomon is on Scott‘s coaching panel and another name in the background.

Meanwhile, another club great Tim Watson said Scott’s job could be under threat if he can’t address the defensive problems.

“There’s no defensive mechanism that’s been apparent about the way he’s implemented his game plan,” Watson said on SEN.

“He’s had four pre-seasons now to do that and it’s still not apparent. You build a defence first which Essendon hasn’t been able to do.”

Last year an injury-hit Essendon were smashed by 100-plus point on 11 occasions.

“They had weaker personnel at their disposal but if you continue to get belted by those margins every week for four years then history tells you that you are going to be under threat as a coach,” Watson said.

“They are at ground zero in their rebuild … A dispirited organisation is what they look like right now.”

The Bombers face North Melbourne on Saturday in what suddenly looms as a crunch game for Scott and his players.

NEW YORK — Andrew Leonard showed up at John F. Kennedy International Airport at 4:45 a.m. on Monday for his 7 a.m. flight to Seattle. Nearly two hours later, he made it through security and to his gate just in time for boarding.

“I fly out of this terminal all the time and this is insane,” said Leonard, a 34-year-old performing arts teacher in New York who was en route to Seattle ahead of a family vacation to Hawaii.

He is one of tens of thousands of travelers around the U.S. who are facing extra-long security wait times at major airport hubs such as Atlanta, New York and Houston due to elevated absences of Transportation Security Administration officers. TSA workers are facing a second missed full paycheck this week as a partial government shutdown continues.

The Trump administration on Monday deployed Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to several U.S. airports.

White House border czar Tom Homan said Sunday the administration would send ICE agents to airports on Monday to help ease security lines amid the Department of Homeland Security shutdown.

DHS blamed Democrats for the shutdown and travel problems in an emailed statement to CNBC.

“This pointless, reckless shutdown of our homeland security workforce has caused more than 400 TSA officers to quit and thousands to call out from work because they are not able to afford gas, childcare, food, or rent,” the department said.

DHS and TSA didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment on how many ICE agents would be deployed, where and what their duties will be.

Homan told CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday that the ICE agents will be “helping TSA move those lines along,” including by guarding exit doors to relieve TSA agents so they could screen travelers. “We’re simply there to help TSA do their jobs in areas that don’t need their specialized expertise.”

TSA’s more than 50,000 officers have been working without their regular paychecks since the partial government shutdown began in mid-February. The shutdown comes as Democrats in Congress demand changes to how federal immigration enforcement operates in exchange for releasing DHS funding after two U.S. citizens were shot and killed by officers in Minneapolis. 

Hundreds of TSA officers have quit since the shutdown started, according to their union, the American Federation of Government Employees.

Members of the travel industry, including airline executives, have blasted lawmakers for failing to pay essential government workers during repeated shutdowns that have snarled travel.

In early 2019 and in late 2025, two federal government shutdowns ended shortly after travel disruptions escalated following higher-than-typical absences of air traffic controllers. Their pay isn’t affected by this impasse.

New York’s LaGuardia Airport was closed on Monday morning following a collision of an Air Canada regional jet and an emergency vehicle on Sunday night. Some passengers told CNBC they had switched to fly out of Kennedy because of the disruptions.

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a short ground stop at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey on Monday morning after air traffic controllers evacuated the tower because of a burning smell coming from an elevator, adding to travel chaos around New York City.

The city of Las Vegas is going all in on March Madness as it tries to reignite tourism and reverse a growing slump. 

Resorts across the Strip are rolling out large-scale watch parties, sportsbook events and themed experiences tied to the NCAA men’s and women’s tournaments — drawing crowds for one of the busiest betting periods of the year, according to reports.

It is estimated that Americans will wager $3.3 billion on this year’s tournaments — with Nevada historically seeing hundreds of millions in bets during the event, the American Gaming Association said.

Travel advisor J.R. Longstaff, based in Florida, told Fox News Digital that the tournament continues to be a major draw for visitors.

“Las Vegas is the ultimate sports fan playground to watch the NCAA tournament,” he said. “The city draws groups of fans to watch the games together on a grand scale, which helps boost tourism and sales around the city.”

“Las Vegas does everything bigger and bolder than just about anywhere else,” Longstaff added.

He pointed to large viewing venues and all-day experiences centered around the games.

Major venues across the city are leaning into that approach.

Resorts World is opening its theater for large-scale viewing, while the Cosmopolitan is hosting its “Hoops and Hops” watch parties with stadium-style screens and games. Fontainebleau is also offering a massive viewing experience with an 80-foot LED screen and on-site betting stations, the website noted.

The push comes as Las Vegas faces broader challenges in attracting visitors.

About 38.5 million people visited the city in 2025 — down 7.5% from the year prior, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

Gaming revenue on the Strip has also declined, falling more than 11% year over year in early 2026, the Nevada Gaming Control Board said.

In-person betting has become less common among younger visitors, many of whom now prefer online platforms.

Robby Starbuck, host of “The Robby Starbuck Show,” previously told Fox News Digital that younger generations are moving away from traditional casino experiences.

“Now nearly everyone under 40 who bets seems to do it online,” he said. “I don’t know one person under age 40 who goes to Vegas regularly to bet or play slots.”

Lucy Henry-Hicks and her partner Mitchell Lau emerged as the buyers of the 6.8-acre estate in Newrybar, which counts Australian film actor Liam Hemsworth among its residents.

Henry-Hicks and Lau paid $9.3 million for the hinterland acreage, High View, which was purchased from Tom and Emma Lane of the Oroton fashion family empire.

The Lanes, who sold The Ranch at Coopers Shoot for $33.6 million in 2023 and Bangalow estate Copperstone for $27.5 million last year, bought the property in Newrybar in 2023 for $8.3 million with plans to remodel it into a luxury retreat.

Inside, the home features gable end windows, vaulted ceilings, polished timber floors, wood-burning fireplaces and a wrap-around verandah.

The property has concept plans for a luxury residence designed by architecture firm MORQ.

The multi-million-dollar transaction is the latest in a prestige property spending spree that saw the couple drop $40 million on a beachside block on the Gold Coast in 2024.

It set a record as the most expensive residential property purchase in Palm Beach.

The 1525 square metre property is the amalgamation of three blocks sold in one line, including a 1960s-era beach shack, a villa and a timber pole house on Fourth Avenue and Jefferson Lane.

Cotality records show two of the three blocks are owned by Henry-Hicks and Lau, including a four-bedroom, two-bathroom property on 870 square metres that sold for $25.3 million.

A neighbouring three-bedroom, two-bathroom property that fetched $3.2 million is also held in their names.

The third property included in the sale sold for more than $11.5 million, taking the total transaction up to $40 million.

According to reports, the three blocks were sold by former Sydney Swans AFL player and property investor Tony Smith.

Henry-Hicks and Lau plan to build two dwellings on the site to create a sprawling beachfront compound across three titles.

The couple are cashed up after the brand took on its first major investment of $90 million from billionaire businessman Brett Blundy in exchange for 40 per cent of the business in 2024.

Henry-Hicks has established herself as a fashion powerhouse since joining forces with her mother Maree Hicks, who founded the label Stiletto in the 1970s, to transform Dissh from a physical retailer into a $150 million global e-commerce brand.

Her father Melville Hicks is the co-founder of surf shop franchise City Beach.

Other properties held by Henry-Hicks and Lau include a $5.05 million renovated 1920s home in the Brisbane suburb of New Farm.

Architect Michael Hogg designed the home with multiple living spaces, including an outdoor room, back courtyard, living room and dining room.

An Air Canada Express regional jet collided with a ground vehicle while landing at New York’s LaGuardia Airport, triggering an emergency ground stop and widespread flight disruptions. Authorities are investigating how the incident unfolded.

An Air Canada Express regional jet crashed into a Port Authority vehicle on the ground after landing at New York’s LaGuardia Airport late Sunday night, forcing the airport to close.

The CRJ-900 plane, which was arriving from Montreal, struck the vehicle at about 24 miles per hour shortly before midnight, according to flight tracking website Flightradar24.

The jet was operated by Jazz Aviation, Air Canada’s regional partner. Air Canada and Jazz Aviation confirmed the incident to Fox News Digital.

“Flight 8646 was en route to LGA from Montréal (YUL),” Jazz Aviation said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “The preliminary passenger list indicates the aircraft was carrying 72 passengers and 4 crew members, although this is subject to confirmation. The incident occurred at approximately 11:47PM on March 22, 2026.”

Damage to jet

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop for all planes at the airport, saying there was an emergency without offering specific details.

LaGuardia’s website showed arriving planes had been diverted to other airports or returned to where they took off from.

The Port Authority confirmed that the jet collided with a Port Authority Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting vehicle.

“At approximately 11:40 p.m. on Sunday, a Jazz Aviation flight operating on behalf of Air Canada was involved in an incident on Runway 4 at LaGuardia Airport in which the aircraft struck a Port Authority Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting vehicle that was responding to a separate incident,” a Port Authority spokesperson said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“Emergency response protocols were immediately activated,” the statement continued. “The Port Authority Police Department is on scene along with the agency’s Chairman and Executive Director. The airport is currently closed to facilitate the response and allow for a thorough investigation.”

The spokesperson added: “This is a developing situation based on preliminary information. The Port Authority Police Department is working closely with our airline partners as well as federal authorities, and will provide additional updates as more details become available.”

U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy’s office also confirmed to Fox News Digital that the flight crashed with a Port Authority fire truck at LaGuardia Airport after the plane landed late Sunday night and that four crew members — the Captain, First Officer and two flight attendants — were among the 72 people on board.

The New York Fire Department said in a statement that it was responding to an incident involving a plane and a vehicle on the runway at LaGuardia Airport, although it did not provide additional details.

The New York City Police Department confirmed the collision but did not offer further information.

Multiple videos taken at the scene showed the jet with severe damage to the front of the aircraft.

The National Transportation Safety Board said it is “launching a go team to investigate the March 22 Jazz Aviation, Air Canada Express Flight 8646, CRJ900, airplane that collided with a fire truck on Runway 4 at LaGuardia Airport in New York.”

Fox News Digital reached out to the FAA, NTSB and LaGuardia Airport for additional information.

The New York City Office of Emergency Management said travelers should expect road closures, traffic delays and cancellations near the airport.

A Netflix cooking show is changing how people travel — and restaurants are seeing bookings jump 303%

South Korean Netflix show “Culinary Class Wars,” which concluded its second season on Jan. 13, has been making waves in the food industry.

Reservations and waitlists for contestants’ restaurants increased by an average of 303%, five weeks after the show’s second premiere compared to the five weeks before, according to a report from restaurant booking platform CatchTable released through South Korean media.

“Culinary Class Wars” categorizes chefs into “Black Spoons” (hidden masters) and “White Spoons” (elite) chefs, mirroring the dichotomy between street food and Michelin-starred experiences, and viewers have been eager to taste from both ends of the spectrum.

This is particularly true for millennials — those born between 1981 and 1996 — and Generation Z, born in 1996 or later, who want to experience cultures other than their own, according to Euromonitor International’s Asia-Pacific 2025 lifestyle survey.

Culinary tourism interest

Dawn Teo, chief operating officer of Singapore-based hotel and restaurant developer Amara Holdings, said that reservations for restaurants featured on the Netflix show were “impossible” during a trip she made to Seoul last October.

The show’s impact “makes people sit up and take notice,” Teo said.

South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced a shift to include food tourism in its 2026 strategy, it said in December — and the country isn’t alone in this increased interest in food from travelers.

In Singapore, food was one of the main drivers of record tourism spending between January and September 2025, according to the Singapore Tourism Board. Tourist receipts for food and beverage increased by 15% when compared to the same period in 2024, despite only a 2.3% increase in overall visitors.

And in Japan, around 82% of tourists reported that eating Japanese food was one of their travel expectations in 2024, up from about 70% in 2015.

Food is a way for travelers to experience authentic culture, according to Erik Wolf, executive director and founder of the World Food Travel Association.

“It’s less about the travel and more about the culture everywhere in the world. Especially after the pandemic, people are wanting to go to more rural locations, secondary and tertiary locations. They want to get to know people, and in a genuine way,” Wolf told CNBC during a call.

Gourmet-street food dichotomy

Hotels are similarly responding to this growing culinary interest.

Nearly 1 in 5 travelers specifically sought out new restaurants or culinary experiences, with 60% of luxury travelers prioritizing hotels with good food options, according to Hilton’s 2025 Trends Report.

“Restaurants today in hotels cannot [just] be hotel restaurants. They have to be restaurants as restaurants [in their own right], or venues as venues,” according to Candice D’Cruz, vice-president of Hilton luxury brands Asia Pacific.

For consumers, the focus has to be on the entire experience, from seasonal produce to where glassware is sourced, D’Cruz added. “If I’m going into Japan, I want to have the white peaches during peach season. I want to have the strawberries and the white strawberries during [the] season,” she told CNBC in an interview.

In Singapore, Amara Holdings aims to fulfill this desire for cultural experiences by providing guided tours of hawker centers and local markets, close to its flagship hotel in downtown Singapore.

It shouldn’t be considered a loss if “a guest isn’t eating with us for breakfast, lunch or dinner, if they’re going to another nearby Zi Char place or hawker center for meals,” Amara’s Teo said — Zi Char refers to inexpensive street food.

Rather, it should be considered a win when hotels are able to provide proximity to authentic cultural experiences, Teo said.

Wolf pointed out that most people don’t frequently eat at high-end or gourmet restaurants when they travel, suggesting that Michelin-starred restaurants might put people off a destination since they might associate it with high costs.

While Michelin features luxurious experiences in its guide, it also highlights local hawkers or cheaper stalls. Hawker Chan, a former Michelin-starred restaurant, had a $3 chicken rice dish on its menu when it was awarded the accolade in 2016.

Yet for Eric Neo, culinary director at hotel Capella Singapore, “fine dining is more about intention, storytelling, whereby we are given the opportunity to interact, curate an experience for the guests,” whereas casual dining is more about “speed,” he said during an interview.

Capella’s tour through local markets has chefs function as guides, leading guests through the process of selecting ingredients and bringing them back into the kitchen to create a dish.

Neo also extends invitations to chefs outside Singapore, part of a desire to “bring up a learning culture between two different countries,” Neo said. Such experiences aren’t solely for hotel guests, but also for the chefs to expand their horizons, he said. Capella brought Korean-American chef and “Culinary Class Wars” contestant Edward Lee to Singapore to create a celebration dinner in August.

It’s also important to not lose sight of the historical cultural influences behind the food we consume, Wolf said, “especially the influence of women in protecting culinary culture” and “the seeds of cuisine in agriculture.”

Fremantle forward Patrick Voss has been slapped with a $1000 fine for taunting Melbourne defender Harrison Petty on Saturday night.

After the Dockers piled on seven goals to one in a dominant first term, Voss and Petty could be seen exchanging words as the players went to their respective huddles.

Voss tapped Petty on the back of the head multiple times, perhaps highlighting the defender’s bald spot, before attempting to open old wounds with a questionable act. He took both his hands to eyes and pretending to wipe away tears in a reference to an incident with Brisbane’s Dayne Zorko from 2022.

Voss’s fine comes under the category of “other misconduct”.

AFL match review officer Michael Christian explained: “The MRO deemed that Voss’s action of rubbing the head of Petty multiple times, combined with the ‘crying’ references was unsportsmanlike and unacceptable.

“The action had the potential to instigate a melee or retaliatory action and is an action that we do not want to see flow down into community or junior football and hence the charge to deter players from doing it in future.”

Elsewhere, Gold Coast midfielder-forward Bailey Humphrey has been suspended for two matches for his dangerous tackle on Richmond forward Maurice Rioli.

The loss of Humphrey will be compounded by that of Christian Petracca, who injured his hamstring against the Tigers.

Petracca had been the early Brownlow Medal favourite until going down on Saturday.
