Las Vegas bets big on March Madness amid city’s tourism slump that worries many

The city of Las Vegas is going all in on March Madness as it tries to reignite tourism and reverse a growing slump.

Resorts across the Strip are rolling out large-scale watch parties, sportsbook events and themed experiences tied to the NCAA men’s and women’s tournaments — drawing crowds for one of the busiest betting periods of the year, according to reports.

It is estimated that Americans will wager $3.3 billion on this year’s tournaments — with Nevada historically seeing hundreds of millions in bets during the event, the American Gaming Association said.

Travel advisor J.R. Longstaff, based in Florida, told Fox News Digital that the tournament continues to be a major draw for visitors.

“Las Vegas is the ultimate sports fan playground to watch the NCAA tournament,” he said. “The city draws groups of fans to watch the games together on a grand scale, which helps boost tourism and sales around the city.”

“Las Vegas does everything bigger and bolder than just about anywhere else,” Longstaff added.

He pointed to large viewing venues and all-day experiences centered around the games.

Major venues across the city are leaning into that approach.

Resorts World is opening its theater for large-scale viewing, while the Cosmopolitan is hosting its “Hoops and Hops” watch parties with stadium-style screens and games. Fontainebleau is also offering a massive viewing experience with an 80-foot LED screen and on-site betting stations, the website noted.

About 38.5 million people visited the city in 2025 — down 7.5% from the year prior, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

Gaming revenue on the Strip has also declined, falling more than 11% year over year in early 2026, the Nevada Gaming Control Board said.

Fox News Digital previously reported that the slowdown has coincided with changing travel and gambling habits.

In-person betting has become less common among younger visitors, many of whom now prefer online platforms.

Some traditional attractions are also disappearing, as casinos adjust to shifting demand.

A Resorts World representative confirmed to Fox News Digital that its poker room is closing at the end of March, leaving just eight poker rooms operating on the Las Vegas Strip.

Robby Starbuck, host of “The Robby Starbuck Show,” previously told Fox News Digital that younger generations are moving away from traditional casino experiences.

“Now nearly everyone under 40 who bets seems to do it online,” he said. “I don’t know one person under age 40 who goes to Vegas regularly to bet or play slots.”

Hankook’s iON Race Supports Competitive Racing at Historic Madrid E-Prix

0
  • Formula E concluded its inaugural Madrid E-Prix at the Circuito del Jarama, where Hankook’s iON Race operated consistently across the championship’s longest circuit
  • The race marked the first single-header event to feature PIT BOOST, adding a new strategic layer alongside a revised ATTACK MODE
  • Hankook also engaged fans at the Hankook booth in the Fan Village, highlighting its iON EV tire technology

MADRID, March 23, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Global leading tire company Hankook Tire & Technology (hereafter Hankook), the exclusive tire supplier to the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, equipped all teams as Formula E staged the 2026 CUPRA Raval Madrid E-Prix at the historic Circuito del Jarama. The race unfolded as a strategically complex contest shaped by Pit Boost, revised Attack Mode, and the demands of the championship’s longest circuit.

On-track action from Round 6 of Formula E Season 12 at the Madrid E-Prix

Round 6 of Season 12 unfolded over 23 laps of the 3.934 km Jarama circuit, where fast-flowing corners and plenty of elevation changes placed a premium on energy management and strategic execution. The first single-header use of PIT BOOST, alongside a revised ATTACK MODE, added an additional strategic dimension for teams.

António Félix Da Costa led Jaguar TCS Racing to victory at the inaugural Madrid E-Prix, securing a 1–2 finish ahead of teammate Mitch Evans, while Pascal Wehrlein completed the podium for Porsche Formula E Team. Strategy and energy management played a key role across the 23-lap race.

Throughout the race, Hankook supplied all teams with its iON Race tire, which delivered stable grip and controlled thermal performance as track conditions evolved across the weekend. Jarama’s fast directional changes and sustained cornering loads demanded predictable warm-up characteristics and consistent traction over the full race distance. Despite limited historical race data at the venue, the tire’s balanced performance window enabled teams to commit to their PIT BOOST and ATTACK MODE strategies with confidence.

“The Madrid E-Prix offered a valuable opportunity to see how teams adapted their strategy on Formula E’s longest circuit,” said Manfred Sandbichler, Senior Director of Hankook Motorsport. “With PIT BOOST and a revised ATTACK MODE influencing race dynamics, tire consistency was an important factor as teams managed energy and race pace across the 23-lap distance. Insights from Jarama will contribute to our ongoing collaboration with the championship as the season continues.”

With Round 6 completed in Madrid, the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship now turns to Rounds 7 and 8 in Berlin, where teams will face a contrasting challenge on the championship’s established Tempelhof circuit.

A Netflix cooking show is changing how people travel — and restaurants are seeing bookings jump 303%

South Korean Netflix show “Culinary Class Wars,” which concluded its second season on Jan. 13, has been making waves in the food industry.

Reservations and waitlists for contestants’ restaurants increased by an average of 303%, five weeks after the show’s second premiere compared to the five weeks before, according to a report from restaurant booking platform CatchTable released through South Korean media.

“Culinary Class Wars” categorizes chefs into “Black Spoons” (hidden masters) and “White Spoons” (elite) chefs, mirroring the dichotomy between street food and Michelin-starred experiences, and viewers have been eager to taste from both ends of the spectrum.

This is particularly true for millennials — those born between 1981 and 1996 — and Generation Z, born in 1996 or later, who want to experience cultures other than their own, according to Euromonitor International’s Asia-Pacific 2025 lifestyle survey.

Culinary tourism interest

Dawn Teo, chief operating officer of Singapore-based hotel and restaurant developer Amara Holdings, said that reservations for restaurants featured on the Netflix show were “impossible” during a trip she made to Seoul last October.

The show’s impact “makes people sit up and take notice,” Teo said.

South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced a shift to include food tourism in its 2026 strategy, it said in December — and the country isn’t alone in this increased interest in food from travelers.

In Singapore, food was one of the main drivers of record tourism spending between January and September 2025, according to the Singapore Tourism Board. Tourist receipts for food and beverage increased by 15% when compared to the same period in 2024, despite only a 2.3% increase in overall visitors.

And in Japan, around 82% of tourists reported that eating Japanese food was one of their travel expectations in 2024, up from about 70% in 2015.

Food is a way for travelers to experience authentic culture, according to Erik Wolf, executive director and founder of the World Food Travel Association.

“It’s less about the travel and more about the culture everywhere in the world. Especially after the pandemic, people are wanting to go to more rural locations, secondary and tertiary locations. They want to get to know people, and in a genuine way,” Wolf told CNBC during a call.

Gourmet-street food dichotomy

Hotels are similarly responding to this growing culinary interest.

Nearly 1 in 5 travelers specifically sought out new restaurants or culinary experiences, with 60% of luxury travelers prioritizing hotels with good food options, according to Hilton’s 2025 Trends Report.

“Restaurants today in hotels cannot [just] be hotel restaurants. They have to be restaurants as restaurants [in their own right], or venues as venues,” according to Candice D’Cruz, vice-president of Hilton luxury brands Asia Pacific.

For consumers, the focus has to be on the entire experience, from seasonal produce to where glassware is sourced, D’Cruz added. “If I’m going into Japan, I want to have the white peaches during peach season. I want to have the strawberries and the white strawberries during [the] season,” she told CNBC in an interview.

In Singapore, Amara Holdings aims to fulfill this desire for cultural experiences by providing guided tours of hawker centers and local markets, close to its flagship hotel in downtown Singapore.

It shouldn’t be considered a loss if “a guest isn’t eating with us for breakfast, lunch or dinner, if they’re going to another nearby Zi Char place or hawker center for meals,” Amara’s Teo said — Zi Char refers to inexpensive street food.

Rather, it should be considered a win when hotels are able to provide proximity to authentic cultural experiences, Teo said.

Customers look at fruits at a street market stall in Singapore, on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026. Singapore’s tourism receipts rose 6.5% year-on-year in the first three quarters of 2025 to a record S$23.9 billion ($18.8 billion).

Bloomberg | Getty Images

Wolf pointed out that most people don’t frequently eat at high-end or gourmet restaurants when they travel, suggesting that Michelin-starred restaurants might put people off a destination since they might associate it with high costs.

While Michelin features luxurious experiences in its guide, it also highlights local hawkers or cheaper stalls. Hawker Chan, a former Michelin-starred restaurant, had a $3 chicken rice dish on its menu when it was awarded the accolade in 2016.

Yet for Eric Neo, culinary director at hotel Capella Singapore, “fine dining is more about intention, storytelling, whereby we are given the opportunity to interact, curate an experience for the guests,” whereas casual dining is more about “speed,” he said during an interview.

Capella’s tour through local markets has chefs function as guides, leading guests through the process of selecting ingredients and bringing them back into the kitchen to create a dish.

Neo also extends invitations to chefs outside Singapore, part of a desire to “bring up a learning culture between two different countries,” Neo said. Such experiences aren’t solely for hotel guests, but also for the chefs to expand their horizons, he said. Capella brought Korean-American chef and “Culinary Class Wars” contestant Edward Lee to Singapore to create a celebration dinner in August.

It’s also important to not lose sight of the historical cultural influences behind the food we consume, Wolf said, “especially the influence of women in protecting culinary culture” and “the seeds of cuisine in agriculture.”

Fremantle antagonist Patrick Voss fined for taunting Harrison Petty, Bailey Humphrey suspended

Fremantle forward Patrick Voss has been slapped with a $1000 fine for taunting Melbourne defender Harrison Petty on Saturday night.

After the Dockers piled on seven goals to one in a dominant first term, Voss and Petty could be seen exchanging words as the players went to their respective huddles.

Voss tapped Petty on the back of the head multiple times, perhaps highlighting the defender’s bald spot, before attempting to open old wounds with a questionable act. He took both his hands to eyes and pretending to wipe away tears in a reference to an incident with Brisbane’s Dayne Zorko from 2022.

Voss’s fine comes under the category of “other misconduct”.

AFL match review officer Michael Christian explained: “The MRO deemed that Voss’s action of rubbing the head of Petty multiple times, combined with the ‘crying’ references was unsportsmanlike and unacceptable.

“The action had the potential to instigate a melee or retaliatory action and is an action that we do not want to see flow down into community or junior football and hence the charge to deter players from doing it in future.”

Elsewhere, Gold Coast midfielder-forward Bailey Humphrey has been suspended for two matches for his dangerous tackle on Richmond forward Maurice Rioli.

The loss of Humphrey will be compounded by that of Christian Petracca, who injured his hamstring against the Tigers.

Petracca had been the early Brownlow Medal favourite until going down on Saturday.

Harnessing World-Class Technology to Empower Professionals Globally

HANGZHOU, China, March 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — In the weeks following the Spring Festival, production lines at Zhejiang Aixiner Stockings Co., Ltd. (Aixiner) are operating at full capacity, with orders scheduled through June and annual sales output projected to increase by 50%. Driving this sustained production momentum is the company’s successful acquisition of Nylstar, a heritage Spanish producer renowned for its premium nylon yarns. By integrating globally recognized technology into its advanced business hosiery portfolio, Aixiner has strengthened its manufacturing capabilities while introducing a fresh perspective on professional attire. The transaction underscores a broader shift toward higher-quality production and more discerning consumer expectations across the textile and apparel sector.

The cross-border investment has received international recognition, most recently being named among the “Top 10 Major Investment Achievements of 2025” by Catalonia Trade & Investment. In November 2025, Aixiner completed the acquisition of the Nylstar factory—originally established in 1923 and long recognized as a global leader in nylon yarn innovation—bringing renewed life to the historic operation that had faced potential closure. Nylstar’s proprietary hyaluronic acid–infused nylon technology delivers exceptional softness, a skin-friendly feel, and lasting moisture—anchoring Aixiner’s leadership in the premium business hosiery market and enabling the company to use world-class technology to empower professionals around the globe.

The first production line at the reactivated Nylstar facility now has an annual capacity of 180 tons, with a second line undergoing upgrades that are expected to double total output. Aixiner has implemented a dual-core operating structure, combining research and development in Spain with operations and market expansion in Fuyang, Hangzhou. This integrated model provides greater control over select raw materials and addresses longstanding industry challenges, including snagging, loss of shape, and uneven texture—ensuring a more consistent, high-quality product for working professionals.

In professional and formal settings, hosiery is a subtle yet essential element of workplace attire, signaling attention to detail and a polished appearance. Aixiner business hosiery has earned widespread recognition among professional women, standing apart from standard alternatives in several key ways:

Aixiner business hosiery is purpose-built for professional workplaces, featuring high-density knitting and a matte finish for lasting durability and a refined appearance. Engineered to resist snagging and maintain shape, it conforms naturally to the leg without rolling and is offered in understated tones such as natural nude, light gray, and classic black—perfectly aligned with formal dress codes.

When selecting premium business hosiery, four key factors are widely considered, and Aixiner is engineered to meet each one:

  • Materials and process: Crafted using Nylstar’s PA66 yarn expertise, combined with patented hyaluronic acid fiber technology and high-density knitting, delivering breathability, comfort, and long-term wear performance.
  • Denier and appearance: Matte styles ranging from 8D–15D for everyday professional use and 15D–40D for colder seasons, shaping the leg naturally without unwanted shine.
  • Fit and design: Seamless deep-rise design that follows natural contours, providing a secure fit without compression or slippage and maintaining a smooth appearance throughout the day.
  • Brand positioning: A dedicated focus on the business hosiery category, backed by multiple patents and a product strategy tailored to professional environments.

As a key component of professional attire, pairing skirts with appropriate hosiery remains a common expectation in many workplaces. Aixiner business hosiery helps create a consistent, polished look by smoothing visual imperfections and subtly enhancing natural leg contours. Worn with professional outfits in meetings, negotiations, and formal events, it minimizes the visual contrast of bare skin and communicates consideration for both the setting and those present—contributing to a composed and professional image.

From the banks of Spain’s Ebro River to China’s Fuchun River, Aixiner has brought a century-old manufacturing facility back to life through strategic investment, enhanced product capabilities through technical innovation, and reinforced workplace attire standards through an unwavering commitment to quality. Looking ahead, the company plans to continue modernizing the Nylstar facility with intelligent manufacturing enhancements while developing next-generation premium yarns. By combining heritage craftsmanship with contemporary operational expertise, Aixiner is empowering professionals worldwide—helping working women present themselves with confidence, poise, and consistency across all professional settings.

Why some US airports are dodging TSA shutdown chaos while others grind to a halt

0

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Long security lines and staffing shortages have disrupted travel at major US airports during the partial government shutdown — but a small group of hubs is largely avoiding the chaos because they rely on private screening contractors instead of federally employed TSA officers.

At least 20 airports across the country participate in the Transportation Security Administration’s Screening Partnership Program (SPP), which was founded in 2004 and allows private companies to conduct security screening under TSA oversight, Business Insider reported this week.

Travelers may not even notice the difference, since private screeners are held to the same federal standards as TSA officers.

ELON MUSK OFFERS TO PAY TSA WORKERS’ SALARIES AMID DHS BUDGET STANDOFF

“With private screening, employees still have to be trained and follow the same federal security standards as TSA,” Daniel Bubb, a former airline pilot and commercial aviation expert at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, told Fox News Digital.

While many airports face long lines and staffing shortages, others using private screening programs have remained less affected. ( Elijah Nouvelage/Bloomberg via Getty Images)

One key difference is that airports using private contractors have reported fewer disruptions tied to the shutdown. Because private screeners are paid through pre-funded federal contracts, they are not impacted in the same way as TSA workers.

SPP hubs include San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Kansas City International Airport (MCI), as well as smaller regional airports such as Orlando Sanford International Airport in Florida and multiple locations across Montana.

AIRPORT CHECKPOINT CLOSURES SPREAD AS TSA WARNS OF SECURITY ‘THREAT,’ MORE TRAVEL DELAYS

“Our screeners have continued to get paid throughout this government shutdown,” Doug Yakel, a spokesperson for SFO, told Fox News Digital, noting it has helped maintain a “stable workforce” while other airports face staffing shortages.

The ongoing disruptions come as the TSA reports national call-out rates of more than 10%, with over 360 officers having quit during the shutdown tied to a funding standoff over the Department of Homeland Security, Fox News Digital reported this week.

At Kansas City International Airport, private contractor VMD Corp. said operations remain “business as usual” despite the shutdown, according to Business Insider. Another TSA-approved contractor, BOS Security, has said private screening can be more efficient, cost-effective and have lower turnover than federal staffing.

The use of private screening remains relatively limited, but Bubb said the model is gaining relevance as this marks the second partial government shutdown affecting the Department of Homeland Security in about five months.

“In some ways, airports are experimenting with private screening programs to see what works best,” he said, adding, “I wouldn’t be surprised if more airports move toward private screening to avoid these kinds of situations.”

Critics, including labor groups, however, argue that privatization could undermine safety and accountability.

“Security is an inherently government function,” former TSA Administrator John Pistole said in a May 2025 blog post from the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), which represents federal workers, including TSA officers.

The AFGE also argues that private screening companies are just in the business to make money. “Their main concern is profit, not the security of the flying public or the well-being of workers, both of which are integrally linked,” the group said in its post.

Beyond the policy debate, Bubb highlighted the impact on frontline workers.

“Travelers should remember that TSA agents are essentially working without pay during a shutdown,” he said.

He urged passengers to stay patient and called on Congress to reach at least a temporary solution.

  • Treatment with ZEGFROVY® resulted in statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvement in progression free survival (PFS) over platinum-containing chemo doublet
  • WU-KONG 28 is the first and only phase 3 study to demonstrate meaningful benefits with an oral, once daily, chemo-free, targeted therapy
  • In addition to improvement in PFS, ZEGFROVY® also showed superior results in all secondary endpoints, including cORR, DOR, DCR, compared to platinum-based chemo doublet
  • ZEGFROVY® was generally well tolerated with a safety profile consistent with previous studies

SHANGHAI, March 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Dizal (SSE:688192) today announced that its multinational Phase 3 WU-KONG28 study evaluating ZEGFROVY® (sunvozertinib) monotherapy as first-line treatment in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with EGFR exon 20 insertion mutations (exon20ins) met its primary endpoint with positive topline results.

The findings suggest that ZEGFROVY monotherapy has the potential to become the first and only chemo free, oral agent to treat newly diagnosed NSCLC patients with EGFR exon20ins.

WU-KONG28 is a multinational, open-label, randomized confirmatory phase 3 study evaluating ZEGFROVY versus platinum-based chemotherapy as first-line treatment in advanced NSCLC patients with EGFR exon20ins. The study enrolled patients across 16 countries and regions in Asia, Europe, North America and South America. The primary endpoint is progression-free survival (PFS) assessed by blinded independent central review (BICR). Topline results demonstrated that ZEGFROVY significantly improved PFS compared to platinum-based doublet chemotherapy, with meaningful clinical benefit. Detailed data from the primary analysis will be submitted for presentation at an upcoming international scientific congress.

“Finding a drug targeting EGFR exon 20 insertion mutations is especially challenging due to their enormous heterogeneity. We have identified over 100 different subtypes of EGFR exon20ins clinically. Despite tremendous efforts, there is no success yet in finding an effective target drug that can spare patients from chemotherapies. WU-KONG28 study has the potential to change all that.” said Dr. Xiaolin Zhang, CEO of Dizal. “The success of this multinational pivotal study further validates ZEGFROVY’s potential as first-line therapy for patients with EGFR exon20ins NSCLC. We extend our sincere gratitude to the patients, their families, and the investigators worldwide for their dedication and contribution to this study. We look forward to sharing comprehensive data with the global scientific community.”

“The positive topline results from WU-KONG28 study represent an important advancement for treating patients with EGFR exon20ins NSCLC,” said Prof. Caicun Zhou, MD, PhD of Shanghai East Hospital and the principal investigator of the study. “ZEGFROVY is currently the only single-agent, small-molecule targeted therapy approved in both China and the United States for patients with EGFR exon 20 insertion NSCLC. In this Phase 3 trial, first-line treatment with ZEGFROVY significantly prolonged PFS compared to platinum-based doublet chemotherapy. These results suggest that ZEGFROVY may offer an effective and convenient treatment option for treatment-naïve patients with EGFR exon20ins NSCLC.”

ZEGFROVY was previously approved in both China and the U.S. for the treatment of relapsed or refractory NSCLC with EGFR exon20ins. In the first-line setting, ZEGFROVY has been granted Breakthrough Therapy Designations by both the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and China Center for Drug Evaluation (CDE). Based on WU-KONG28 study results, Dizal plans to engage with regulatory authorities regarding potential new drug applications (NDAs).

About ZEGFROVY®(sunvozertinib)

ZEGFROVY is an irreversible EGFR inhibitor discovered by Dizal scientists targeting a wide spectrum of EGFR mutations with wild-type EGFR selectivity. ZEGFROVY is approved in the U.S. and China for the treatment the treatment of adult patients with locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) exon 20 insertion mutations (exon20ins), whose disease has progressed on or after platinum-based chemotherapy. The approval in China is based on the results of the pivotal WU-KONG6 study in platinum-based chemotherapy pretreated NSCLC with EGFR exon20ins. The U.S. approval is supported by WU-KONG1 Part B, a multinational pivotal study investigating the efficacy and safety of ZEGFROVY in the same indication.

In addition, ZEGFROVY also demonstrated encouraging anti-tumor activity in NSCLC patients with EGFR sensitizing, T790M, and uncommon mutations, as well as HER2 exon20ins.

ZEGFROVY showed a well-tolerated and manageable safety profile in the clinic. The most common drug-related TEAEs (treatment-emergent adverse event) were Grade 1/2 in nature and clinically manageable.

WU-KONG28, a multinational, randomized Phase 3 study conducted across 16 countries and regions evaluating ZEGFROVY as first-line treatment for patients with EGFR exon20ins NSCLC, met its primary endpoint.

Pre-clinical and clinical results of ZEGFROVY were published in peer-reviewed journals Cancer Discovery, The Lancet Respiratory Medicine and Journal of Clinical Oncology.

Fans flock to Hobart Oval as Tasmania Devils win inaugural VFL game

0

The Tasmania Devils have tasted success in their inaugural VFL game, toppling Coburg by 17 points in front of a heaving sold-out suburban home crowd.

In the club’s first outing ahead of entry into the AFL in 2028, the Devils led at every change in the 14.12 (96) to 11.13 (79) result at North Hobart Oval on Saturday.

Tasmania have framed the next two seasons in the second-tier Victorian competition as crucial in their build towards the top league.

Young West Australian Jed Hagan and former Fremantle and West Coast player Hugh Dixon both kicked four goals in the round-one clash.

Local favourite and veteran Sam Siggins and former North Melbourne rookie Geordie Payne each booted two majors.

Siggins, who once spent time on the Adelaide Crows’ roster and signed from Hobart club Lauderdale, had the honour of slotting the Devils’ first goal in the 13th minute.

He was fed by Hagan before nailing the set shot from about 30m out.

Tasmania were up 74-59 at three-quarter time and then racked up the first three goals of the final term, before Coburg rallied.

But the Devils held on in front of a sold-out 10,634-strong crowd.

Tasmania were part of the VFL from 2001-08, but this was their maiden outing as the Devils franchise.

They ran out through a banner with the words “Back in the VFL. It’s been a long wait, the comp hasn’t been good since 2008.”

Hagan, a former All-Australian at under-18 level, also picked up 17 disposals and eight tackles.

Coburg won on the stats sheet, with 365 disposals to Tasmania’s 284 and also won the inside-50s 61-54, but not the numbers that mattered.

The Devils opened up a 27-22 lead at quarter-time on the back of a running goal from defender Brandon Leary on the siren.

Tasmania went on a run of four majors either side of the first term to open up a 23-point lead.

But Coburg, who finished mid-table in the VFL in 2025, came to life with three in a row of their own to trail 52-51 at the main break.

The Devils scrambled strongly in the third, crucially keeping Coburg to just one goal for the term for a 74-59 lead.

The club passed a huge hurdle in December when state parliament approved construction of a new $1.13 billion stadium, a condition of the club’s AFL licence.
