My folks say this pizza oven makes pies that ‘taste wood-fired’ — and it’s $50 off

As Italian-Americans, my family and I are, shall I say, particular when it comes to pizza. Growing up, we rarely had it at home because our oven did not yield delicious results. Quite the opposite. Instead, we opted to eat at a select few local parlors that met my parents’ standards. Cut to a few years ago, when my folks moved to a new state and quickly realized the pizza options were limited, to say the least. But when they saw a TV ad saying the Granitestone Piezano Pizza Oven — a small, countertop appliance — reached temps of up to 800°F, they were intrigued.

They decided to try it out and have not looked back. Of course, they might be kicking themselves for not waiting until now to purchase it — the price just dropped to $99. But I think they’re too busy enjoying pies that “taste wood-fired” (their words) to have any regrets. However, that doesn’t mean you should wait: add it to your cart while the slice, I mean, price is right.

Why is it a good deal? 💰

Upon checking my price trackers, I realized that this popular pie producer is currently within $4 of its all-time low — saving you over 30%. If you order takeout a lot, it will pay for itself in just a few uses; plus, it’s a steal compared to many outdoor pizza makers on the market, which can cost hundreds, if not thousands.

Why do I need this? 🤔

I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve received dozens of text messages from my parents that sing the Piezano’s praises. “It only takes about 6-9 minutes to make a pizza,” my dad shared, then proceeded to send photos of the veggie, pepperoni and anchovy pies he made for a party. “It’s so easy to work with, and the pizza tastes great.” My mom agreed, saying, “I love the char on the bottom.”

As mentioned, the Piezano reaches temperatures a standard oven can’t, which is essential for achieving a crust that’s perfectly crisp on the outside and slightly chewy inside. And because it can get as hot as 800°F, it’ll have your pizza cooked in less time than it takes your full-size oven to preheat.

What sets this appliance apart from similar models is that it has dual control settings: one for the top of the unit and one for the bottom. Prefer a crispier crust? Give the bottom a boost. Want the veggie toppings to retain a little crunch? Go easy on the top. It also has a viewing window so you can check on the progress without letting heat escape, as well as suctioned feet to keep it secure on your counter. Wondering how to get your uncooked pizza onto the stone in one piece? The included wooden paddles will take care of that. This kit also comes with a dedicated scraper for cleaning the stone.

Now that many of my parents’ friends have tried pizzas made with the Piezano, they all want one; some said they look forward to using it when their grandkids come to visit. Something to keep in mind? “I wish the upper heating coils were higher,” says my dad. “Sometimes, the coils burn the toppings when the lid closes. Other than that, I really have nothing bad to say about it.”

What reviewers say 💬

My parents are in good company — nearly 2,000 Amazon shoppers have given this pizza oven a perfect plating, er, rating.

Pros 👍

“The Piezano delivers!” swooned a saucy shopper. “I can’t believe how quickly this cooks pizza (either fresh or frozen). Nice crispy crust without having to scrape mozzarella cheese off the bottom of my oven. Heats up quickly and cooks a pizza in less than five minutes. I have used this way more than I ever thought I would. Definitely one of the top five kitchen gadgets I’ve ever purchased!”

“Once I got the temperature settings right, the results were just like professional stone-baked pizza,” declared a delighted dough devotee. “Even store-bought frozen came out better than oven baking.”

“As an Italian living in the U.S., it’s not always easy to find great pizza,” admitted a picky pie pundit. “But with this oven and my dough recipe, I’ve finally discovered the perfect combination for making delicious pizza at home.”

Cons 👎

Several amateur pizzaiolos had the same note as my dad: “I made my first pizza pie last night with this, and wow!” exclaimed a newbie. “It cooks quickly, and the crust crunches when you cut into it … The only thing you have to worry about is if your pizza crust bubbles up, because it can touch the heating element and burn, but they tell you to poke the bubbles so they deflate.”

“I love that it comes with the paddles and scraper, because they are so necessary,” shared a final fan, who added, “One thing I’ve noticed is that the viewing window is looking cloudy, and I’ve only used this maybe eight times so far.”
