It explores how curiosity has long been served as a driving source of creativity, fueling cross-disciplinary innovation across diverse fields. The Summit also showcases Hong Kong’s design and creativity West and exemplifying the city’s role as a “Super Connector” and “Super Value-Adder” in bridging the East and West, and reinforcing its position as a hub for international cultural exchange.

The opening session yesterday was officiated by Miss Rosanna Law Shuk Pui, JP, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government; H.E. Massimo Ambrosetti, The Ambassador of Italy to the People’s Republic of China; Mr Joseph Lo, MH, Chairman of the Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC), the organizing body of BODW 2025; and Ms Sophia Chong, Executive Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the co-organizing body.

In her opening remarks, Miss Rosanna Law Shuk Pui, JP, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, stated: ‘[At BODW], masters from various design disciplines will guide us on a journey to rediscover how good design enhances our quality of life, and reimagine how it can help shape a better tomorrow. Building on our successful collaborations in 2007 and 2017, and as 2025 also marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the People’s Republic of China and Italy, this reunion at BODW is both timely and meaningful. It also reaffirms Hong Kong’s role as an East-West centre for international cultural exchange.’

H.E. Massimo Ambrosetti, Ambassador of Italy to the People’s Republic of China, stated, ‘BODW is a very important point of reference for the world of design in Asia. We would like to express our gratitude for the partnership between ourselves and the Hong Kong Design Centre. Today’s event underlines how Italy is not only an innovative country, but a country with a vision. Emphasising interactive participation, the bodw Future Lab encourages attendees for active contribution, collaborating to shape the future together.

The bodw Future Lab features a total of three sessions. The first was conducted in yesterday afternoon with the theme “Urban Visions: Designing the Future City”, highlighting urban planning and innovative building design. Participants collaborated to brainstorm how Hong Kong’s cultural and natural resources can be integrated to co-create a future-inclusive city that balances social cohesion with sustainability, developing actionable design principles that benefit both the community and the economy. The remaining two Future Lab sessions unfolded on day two of the Summit, guiding participants to explore how art and design can revitalise urban spaces; and learn to apply a creative leadership framework to navigate technology in the AI era for greater impact.

The full Summit programme is streamed live on bodw+ and social media platforms, with curated highlights broadcast locally on ViuTVsix (channel 96) from 18 to 20 December, between 8:30 PM and 10:30 PM.

Klook takes the lead among international travelers booking paid tours and activities in Japan

0

SINGAPORE, Dec. 4, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau (OCTB)‘s latest Kansai Airport Exit Survey 2025: Interim Report found that Klook is the most-used platform among international travelers booking paid tours and activities during their stay in Japan.

Slide 85 from Kansai Airport Exit Survey 2025: Interim Report published in October 2025

42.1% of respondents indicated that they booked via Klook, tripling the next player on the list.

The finding draws on data from 2,228 respondents collected over two survey waves conducted between May and September 2025. Interim results were published in October 2025.

This survey is part of OCTB’s ongoing efforts to understand inbound tourists’ behavior in Japan — including how and where they book their activities — in order to identify effective ways to market Osaka’s attractions to different types of visitors. It also explores key factors influencing satisfaction, repeat intention, and spending behavior.

“Understanding where visitors book their activities helps us connect this information with insights from our surveys, such as traveler profiles and motivations,” says Hiroki Makita, General Manager, Marketing Strategy Department, OCTB. “This enables us to better understand different customer segments and identify effective ways to promote Osaka’s attractions to a broader audience, supporting our wider-area tourism goals.”

The data serves as a foundational resource for tourism stakeholders in Osaka, including local governments and tourism-related businesses, providing an overview of the current state of tourism in the city and supporting future strategy development.

“Our latest results show that Klook has a particularly strong presence in activity ticket sales,” says Makita-san. “By working with Klook and other online travel agents, we aim to expand exposure for experiences across Osaka’s municipalities and inspire more visitors to explore the many sides of Osaka.”

And Klook has played a pivotal role in inspiring visitors to explore Osaka.

The city’s defining event this year, Expo 2025, runs from April to October 2025, coinciding with OCTB’s survey window.

During that period, Klook recorded close to 40% year-on-year increase in average daily gross bookings, indicating that travelers who came for Expo 2025 also booked additional experiences through Klook.

These travelers were also more likely to book JR Passes, Shinkansen trips, and regional attractions like Osaka e-pass and Have Fun in Kansai Pass to maximize their stay.

“We are honored that Klook is the leading platform among international travelers booking paid tours and activities in Japan, and outperforming other providers by a significant margin too,” says Wataru Masuda, General Manager at Klook Japan. “This recognition reaffirms our commitment to making it easy for everyone to enjoy the best of each destination. Working closely with partners, like the Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau, definitely helps us design experiences that bring value to both travelers and local communities.”

In August 2025, Klook partnered with the Hiroshima Tourism Association (HIT) to bring 112 content creators from 20 markets to experience and showcase Hiroshima. The campaign achieved a sustained digital reach of over 59.5 million and 28.5 million social impressions, amplifying Hiroshima’s appeal to global travelers.

Klook is also one of only three online travel agencies partnering with the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) to drive tourism dispersal by promoting lesser-visited destinations of Japan to Asia-based travelers.

About Klook

Klook is a leading pan-regional experiences platform in Asia Pacific, purpose built to digitalize experiences and make them accessible to every traveler. Our mission is to build the digital infrastructure for the global experience economy — empowering merchants to share their passions and travelers to discover the heartbeat of each destination. We operate a mobile-first, curated platform featuring diverse experiences across global destinations.

Nathan Lyon ‘filthy’ as Aussies explain veteran’s shock axing for second Ashes Test

0

Australian chief of selectors George Bailey has revealed the reason behind the controversial call to drop spinner Nathan Lyon in a decision that the veteran was “aboslutely filthy” with.

Lyon was a shock omission for the second Ashes Test in Brisbane with the Aussies instead going with a four-pronged pace attack featuring Mitchell Starc, Scott Boland, Brendan Doggett and Michael Neser.

The move to drop the spinner immediately raised eyebrows from expert commentators.

It’s the first Test in Australia he has missed since 2012.

“For someone like Nathan Lyon who is such a seasoned professional with a good record at the Gabba, I think it’s a massive call for the Aussies to make,” Ricky Ponting said on Channel 7.

“I’m still a bit surprised by it, to be honest,” Aaron Finch said.

“I am shocked because last time Nathan Lyon didn’t play a Test in Australia was back in 2012 at the WACA,” Simon Katich said.

“I can’t believe it,” England great Stuart Broad said.

The confusion continued throughout the first session as Neser bowled just three overs.

He did pick up the crucial wicket of Zak Crawley in the middle session, but the absence of Lyon is still a huge talking point.

Bailey addressed the situation during play on Day 1.

“I don’t think he agreed with it, and that’s fine,” he said.

“I think Beau Webster’s in the same boat. That was heavily debated around Inglis and Webster, Neser and Webster.

“Nathan will disagree with the decision, and that’s perfectly OK. I think he disagreed with the decision in Jamaica, and that was perfectly OK.

“There’s no qualms about players feeling like they can impact the game and the fact of the matter is he could have.”

Bailey insisted it would be a one-off decision.

When Lyon was omitted for the third and final Test in the West Indies earlier this year national selector Tony Dodemaide also said it was “a one-off”.

“Very much it’s a one-Test decision. Nath will play in Adelaide,” Bailey said.

“It’s just how you think you’re going to structure up the resources and how it’s going to be used when it gets dark, when you think you’re going to be using seam bowlers, how many bowlers get used in a day, when you think the new ball is going to be available, that sort of stuff.”

Bailey added there were “a number of factors” at play.

“I wouldn’t like to be going down a path where you’re saying it’s purely the wickets or purely the way the game’s been played and certain games not going as deep into days four and five,” he said.

“It’s probably just highlighted with Gaz because there’s been years where he has (bowled a lot) and his ability to bowl long spells, go at two an over and do that sort of stuff. It just hasn’t quite panned out that way.”

Lyon later told Channel 7 he was “filthy” at the decision.

Absolutely filthy, but yeah, can’t do anything about it,” he told Channel 7.

“Hope I can play my role in making sure I get the guys ready and do whatever I can to make sure that we get the right result here.”

As of 8.30pm local time, Lyon had not brought himself to speak with Bailey or coach Andrew McDonald about his omission.

“I haven’t really sat down with ‘Ronny’ (McDonald) or George yet. When things settle down in my own head (I will),’ he said.

“I’m not the first player to miss a Test match and I won’t be the last, but obviously I’m pretty gutted, because I know the role that I can play within Australian cricket, especially at a venue like this.

“I’m extremely disappointed, but I’ll do whatever to make sure these guys (the Australian team) are right.”

Meanwhile, Bailey insisted the Aussies weren’t playing “funny buggers” with the selection intrigue around skipper Pat Cummins.

Cummins was left out of the squad for the second Test last week, but was a talking point this week with reports saying he was still a chance to play.

The skipper was extremely close and now seems a certainty to feature in the third Test in Adelaide.

“He could’ve played but there would’ve been some restrictions around the overs,” Bailey said.

“Probably the key factors were what does that look like for post-this and are you accentuating that risk going forward and what are the uncontrollables in the game and does that put other players under pressure?

“It’s one where we can’t budge. There was going to be a hard number of overs.”

Cummins has made outstanding progress from a back injury and will only be in a better condition by Adelaide.

“Now he’s into that mode where it’s back-to-back bowling days,” Bailey said.

“It’s one of those ones where the longer (recovery) the better.”

Uzbekistan

Famed as a central hub along the ancient Silk Road, Uzbekistan saw a 234% increase in searches by South Korean travelers this year. Meanwhile, Shymkent, Kazakhstan’s third-largest city, has also gained popularity following SCAT Airlines’ launch of a direct flight from Incheon in May, resulting in an 89% increase in travel interest by South Koreans.

Steve Smith issues Australia’s ideological response to Bazball as hosts chase 2-0 Ashes lead

0

As England’s Bazball tactics go on trial at the Gabba, Steve Smith has defined the Aussie approach to Test cricket the hosts are hoping to ride to a 2-0 Ashes series lead.

On a warm Wednesday in Brisbane, Smith was asked to outline the Australian way of playing Test cricket ahead of the day-night match that begins on Thursday.

The veteran batter, without flinching, had a simple response — one that flies squarely in the face of England’s positive, if contrived, Bazball brand.

Know the news with the 7NEWS app: Download today Arrow

“Adapting to conditions and what’s in front of us, playing the game in real time (is the Australian way),” Smith said.

“I think that’s one thing this team’s done really well for a period of time, being able to sum up the conditions, play what’s in front of us in live time.”

That adapt-or-perish mindset appeared integral to Australia’s eight-wicket defeat of England in the Perth series opener.

When a back injury sidelined Usman Khawaja, middle-order aggressor Travis Head was sent out to open as his side chased second-innings runs on a tricky deck.

As recently as the tour of Sri Lanka in February, Head had told reporters he doubted he’d ever open the batting at Test level in home conditions.

But heeding the call in the unfamiliar role, he smacked the rapid-fire century that ultimately won Australia the game and sealed their 1-0 series lead.

Adaptability has been the name of the game in the lead-up to the second Test, too: from needing to replace Khawaja in the XI two days before the toss, to Smith’s strips of eye tape that will be used to combat the glare of the Gabba floodlights.

As Smith sees it, the demands of day-night cricket make adaptability all the more important.

“(With the) pink ball, anything’s possible,” Smith said.

“We’ve been pretty open in the past about having two nightwatchmen and things like that.

Steve Smith says Australia will continue to show adaptability as they chase another Ashes win. (AAP PHOTOS)

“It’s a completely different game, you’ve got to play what’s in front of you at any given stage.”

England, in a way, will take the opposite approach into the Gabba as they hope to level the Ashes.

The tourists’ aggression with the bat backfired in the second innings of the series opener as they lost 5-23 in a day-two collapse.

The tourists’ Bazball philosophy is built on remaining proactive at all costs, and captain Ben Stokes reiterated his faith in that mindset on Wednesday.

“Mindset is everything when it comes to sport in general,” he said.

“I have got complete trust in the players we select to go out there with the mentality of being that person who is going to influence the game the right way for us.

“Sometimes it doesn’t work out that way, but you’ve heard from a couple of us that we addressed last week and assessed certain moments in that game and definitely take some lessons.

“It is a chance for us this week to do what we want to do and win the Ashes.”

Delta Air Lines said the government shutdown that ended last month cost it approximately $200 million in pretax profit as bookings softened during the longest such impasse in U.S. history.

The airline said the earnings impact would be approximately 25 cents a share for the current quarter. In October, Delta forecast adjusted fourth-quarter earnings of $1.60 to $1.90 a share.

Travel demand, however, is still healthy, and bookings are strong going into 2026, Delta reiterated in a securities filing on Wednesday ahead of an industry conference.

Air traffic controller shortages worsened during the shutdown, and the Trump administration forced airlines to trim their schedules to relieve pressure on controllers. But even with that move, delays and cancellations ended up being higher than expected in the days before the shutdown ended.

Air traffic controllers, already stretched thin before the shutdown, were required to work without their regular paychecks during that period.

Delta CEO Ed Bastian and other airline executives have repeatedly pressed lawmakers and officials in Washington to ensure that air traffic controllers, Transportation Security Administration officers and other workers tied to air travel are paid in the event of another shutdown.

ONERugged 8-Inch Windows Rugged Tablet M82A Unveiled with a New Level of Power and Portability

0

SHENZHEN, China, Dec. 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — ONERugged launched the smallest yet the strongest 8-inch Windows rugged tablet, M82A. Built for professionals who need performance on the move, the M82A combines compact size and a 12th Gen Intel® Core™ processor to support mission-critical work in the field, warehouse, or outdoors. With its lightweight design and robust features, the M82A redefines what a truly mobile rugged tablet can offer.

Need Both Performance & Portability? M82A Is the One.

Previously, most 12th Gen Intel® Core™ rugged tablets ranged from 10.1 to 14 inches. Larger sizes allowed stronger performance, but left mobility-focused users wanting more. Many wondered: Can a smaller tablet handle high-performance processors?

Now, the M82A is the perfect answer. As the smallest member of the Alder Lake series, the M82A features Intel® Core™ i5-1235U/i7-1255U processors with up to 15W power, delivering smooth performance while handling complex software and multitasking. Its efficient cooling system ensures stable performance, the IP67 rating protects against heavy rain and dust, and its upgraded battery overcomes the usual endurance issues of small rugged tablets.

Just how powerful is the M82A in real use? Let’s take a closer look.

Only 8-Inch, But It Has All the Necessary Parts.

The M82A’s biggest internal upgrade lies in its motherboard design. For the first time in an 8-inch rugged tablet, ONERugged adopts an L-shaped motherboard. This layout significantly reduces the board’s footprint, freeing up more space for components such as the battery. It also creates the necessary room for integrating the fan module.

On the motherboard, the CPU, GPU, and RAM components are covered with a metal heat sink, with a copper heat pipe directing heat to the fan module. Surrounding the SoC are various functional components, including the 4G module, NFC module, fingerprint sensor, M.2 SATA SSD, SD/SIM card slots, camera module, barcode scanner module, and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chipset. On the far right, the board integrates Type-C, USB, RJ45, and DC power ports.

As you can see, the 8-inch rugged tablet M82A pushes internal space utilization to its limit, achieving a highly compact layout without compromising performance or functionality.

Top Performance, Super Cooling

The M82A is powered by Intel® Core™ i5-1235U/i7-1255U processors featuring a 10-core architecture, including 2 performance cores up to 4.4GHz/4.7GHz and 8 efficiency cores up to 3.3GHz/3.5GHz. It also integrates Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics with 80/96 EU execution units. In practical terms, this configuration reaches the performance level of a flagship rugged laptop, enabling the M82A to handle heavy workloads and demanding tasks with ease.

A more powerful processor inevitably brings higher power consumption and heat output. Thus, the M82A adopts a newly enhanced thermal design that combines active cooling, structural heat conduction, and chip-level optimization. This upgraded system efficiently dissipates heat, allowing the 12th Gen Intel® Core™ processor to deliver its full performance without causing thermal buildup.

IP67 Protection, Shrug off Drops and Water

As an industrial rugged tablet, the M82A naturally emphasizes durability. Many users who value both compact size and high performance are outdoor professionals. This raises an important question: with a built-in fan, can the M82A still withstand harsh outdoor environments?

The answer is absolutely yes. The industrial rugged tablet M82A upgrades its protection rating from IP65 to IP67. While IP65 only guards against rain and splashes, IP67 allows the device to be fully submerged in water for a short period and continue functioning normally.

The M82A’s waterproof capability relies on three key technologies.

  • Physical sealing: rubber gaskets and plugs are applied around the housing, ports, and battery module to prevent water ingress.
  • Independent fan chamber: the M82A isolates the fan in a separate compartment and uses an IP67-rated fan module to create a protective barrier for active cooling.
  • Waterproof coating and materials: waterproof foam and membranes are applied to areas such as the fan chamber and speakers, while components such as the 2D scanner, heat pipe, and fan power cables use dispensing process to ensure overall integrity.

Enhanced Battery Power, New Endurance Standard

Battery life has long been a weakness for small rugged tablets, with many industry users forced to choose between endurance and performance.

The 8-inch rugged tablet M82A breaks this compromise. Despite limited internal space, it increases battery capacity by expanding the battery area and using an integrated design for the battery cover and battery body. As a result, the compact M82A achieves a capacity of 7.6V/5700mAh — about 35% higher than similar products. Its removable battery also adds flexibility for high-demand industries, allowing instant swaps to support long shifts or continuous multi-shift operations.

In our battery test at 300 nits brightness and 70 dB volume, the M82A delivered 6.8 hours of continuous 1080P video playback, nearly matching the endurance of 10.1-inch and larger rugged tablets.

Your Work Companion in All Scenarios

In steep mountainous terrain, the M82A’s compact 8-inch size allows geological surveyors to easily store it in a backpack or jacket pocket, keeping their hands free to focus on climbing and navigating challenging environments.

Powered by Intel® Core™ 12th Gen processors, the M82A enables production engineers to smoothly run and view complex 3D product models.

In data centers, IT personnel can connect the M82A directly to servers via its Ethernet port, easily performing system diagnostics and maintenance tasks.

In mountainous wind farms, engineers can view high-definition images of turbine blades transmitted by drones over 4G LTE, and mark issues in real time. If sudden rain occurs, its IP67 protection ensures stable operation even when the surface is wet, keeping work uninterrupted.

From rugged mountains to smart factories, the M82A empowers industries with exceptional adaptability and reliability. For those seeking both performance and portability, and who need a device that delivers reliable performance across diverse environments, ONERugged’s newly launched 8-inch Windows rugged tablet M82A is undoubtedly an ideal choice.
