Kyle Sandilands reveals key to legal defence against sacking as legal battle with ARN heats up

0

Radio host Kyle Sandilands has appeared in court today, as he and former co-host Jackie “O” Henderson continue their legal battle against former employer ARN.

The former hosts of KIIS FM’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show are suing the radio network following an on-air spat that derailed their top-rated program and ultimately their $100 million contracts.

Arriving at court on Friday morning, Sandilands told reporters he had not spoken to Henderson.

“I’m not really nervous,” Sandilands said outside court.

“Put me back on the radio and let’s get the share price back up.”

Sandilands’ legal team argues the termination of his contract was invalid and his behaviour did not amount to serious misconduct.

The controversial radio host will also argue his former employer was aware of his abrasive on-air persona and had effectively made that behaviour a condition of his contract, his lawyer said on Friday.

Sandilands’ barrister Scott Robertson SC argued the shock jock’s contract was unfairly terminated because he had a “special immunity” to outrageous conduct.

“Particular kinds of conduct … might be considered serious misconduct under workplace law but not when you consider the contract,” Robertson said.

“If you buy Kyle, you get Kyle.”

Robertson added headline-drawing outbursts were “contractually desired” by ARN, with clips of arguments between the pair monetised through social media.

Sandilands, arriving in a Rolls-Royce and wearing a custom-made suit, attended a case management hearing at the Federal Court.

Henderson’s interlocutory hearing was heard later in the day — her agent Gemma O’Neill was in court.

Henderson’s team claim she had complained about Sandilands’ conduct six months before the public falling out, as part of a wrongful termination claim.

Her lawyer Vanja Bulut said evidence was expected to be called detailing the damage to Henderson’s health and wellbeing as a result of the sacking.

Sandilands allegedly said some of Henderson’s comments were “weird, psychological bullshit” and her belief in “hype words” was negatively impacting her dating life.

He is also alleged to have made offensive comments to her in September 2025 that prompted her to raise a complaint with station staff.

“Don’t f***ing bother coming back either until you get your f***ing shit together like a normal person,” Sandilands allegedly told Henderson off-air.

“I’ve been carrying this whole show for a f***ing a year.”

Both are seeking the full payout of the remainder of their 10-year, $100 million contracts signed at the end of 2023.

Ratings have slumped in The Kyle and Jackie O Show’s former slot as the duo’s employer attempts to recoup millions in lost profits.

Sandilands and Henderson both face a countersuit from ARN, which claims the pair cost the company key advertising revenue through their sacking.

Leaving court after his appearance, Sandilands said he had “no regrets”.

He added “the truth will raise its head” during the case against his former employer, as a Sydney judge considers whether proceedings brought by Henderson should be heard together.

While a final decision on whether the cases will be heard separately is expected in May, both matters have been tentatively listed for a trial starting on October 12.

0

SANYA, China, April 23, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The 9th DONG Connection Event, themed “Future Journey, Human Moments,” drew to a successful close at The Sanya EDITION. This pivotal gathering marked the first high-end travel industry event held in Sanya since the commencement of the Hainan Free Trade Port’s closure operations. Setting a new benchmark for China’s luxury travel sector, the event combined foresight into market trends with a fusion of global resources, underscoring its commitment to advancing the luxury travel industry.

As one of the most influential B2B offline networking platforms in China’s luxury travel industry, the DONG Connection continues to shape and define the future of the sector. By integrating top-tier global resources with progressive market insights, the event not only enhanced the global standing of China’s luxury travel industry but also strengthened its international discourse.

Global Luxury Travel Resources Convene, Setting New Records

Since its launch in 2018, the DONG Connection Event has grown into one of China’s most dynamic gatherings for the high-end travel industry. This year’s event reached unprecedented levels of participation, hosting a record-breaking 750 attendees, including core executives from leading international luxury travel suppliers such as Bvlgari, Aman, Capella, Rosewood, EDITION, Six Senses, Mandarin Oriental, Park Hyatt, Peninsula, Four Seasons, Waldorf Astoria, Raffles, Anantara, as well as Ponant and Silversea Cruises, among others. Together, they explored groundbreaking avenues for collaboration.

The event welcomed participation from 360 luxury hotel groups and overseas tourism organizations spanning 40 countries and 127 overseas cities, representing 451 top-tier suppliers. It also brought together 255 high-end buyers from 229 luxury travel agencies in 30 domestic cities. The aim was clear: foster collaboration between public enterprises and the Sanya Tourism Development Board, link domestic and international luxury travel ecosystems, facilitate resource-matching partnerships, and create synergy between China’s high-end travel market and the global luxury travel sphere.

Cutting-Edge Agendas Unveil New Horizons

With its overarching theme “Future Journey, Human Moments”, this year’s event focused on the transformative power of technology and the human-centric enhancements shaping AI-driven luxury travel. Core sessions explored the seamless integration of cutting-edge solutions with meaningful guest experiences under the philosophy of “technology empowering humanity.”

Over 20,000 one-on-one “Peak Dialogue” sessions delved into three major themes:

– AI-Enabled Travel: From algorithmic recommendations to intelligent itinerary planning, redefining convenience and customization.
– Crafting Emotional Value: Elevating experience design by connecting with the emotional dimensions sought by high-end travelers.
– Sustainable Travel Development: Embedding ESG principles into the heart of the luxury travel industry.

In an evening dedicated to recognition and celebration, an awards ceremony honored companies and individuals who have significantly contributed to the advancement of luxury travel. These accolades celebrated leaders who championed quality, personalization, and sustainability, setting new standards for the evolving industry.

In-Depth Insights: Redefining Luxury Travel with AI and Inner Value

The event saw the unveiling of the “China Luxury Travel Trends Report,” developed in partnership with Dragon Trail. Offering valuable first-hand insights, the report drew on data from 200 luxury hotels, 200 leading Chinese travel agencies, and 200 high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) with investable assets exceeding one million RMB.

Key takeaways from the report include:

– China’s HNWI segment is primarily composed of resourceful, self-made entrepreneurs, with women playing a decisive role in outbound travel decisions.
– HNWIs prioritize personal growth, cultural immersion, and in-depth exploration, with accommodation commanding the lion’s share of their travel budgets.
– Guests increasingly demand tailored, localized services with an emphasis on privacy.
– Niche destinations and exclusive, one-of-a-kind experiences are on the rise.
– Sustainable travel, wellness, and healing have emerged as major growth drivers for the future of the industry.

May Wong, CEO of the DONG Connection Event, remarked, “The future of luxury travel lies in the shift from conspicuous consumption to a profound pursuit of inner value. Today’s travelers seek physical and mental wellbeing, emotional connection, and soul-enriching experiences that transcend material enjoyments. ‘Emotional value’ is now at the core of luxury, aligning with the global trend of experiential luxury.”

In his address, Co-Founder Bamboo Zhou introduced the transformative role of AI in the luxury travel industry, describing it as an “enabler” rather than a replacement for human expertise. Zhou explained how AI enhances efficiency in areas such as preference management, intelligent booking systems, and itinerary planning while enabling multilingual communication and creating hyper-personalized guest experiences. However, Zhou emphasized that AI’s ultimate purpose is to empower travel advisors, freeing them from routine tasks and enabling them to provide elevated, human-touch service.

Rooted in Eastern Wisdom, Driving Global Innovation

Over nine transformative years, the DONG Connection Event has blossomed from a resource-sharing platform to a complete ecosystem that mutually strengthens China’s and the world’s luxury travel markets. It has shifted the industry from a focus on “chasing luxury symbols” to a deeper quest for “inner value.”

Looking forward, the DONG Connection Event is steadfast in its mission to link global luxury travel resources with local expertise. Guided by Eastern wisdom, it seamlessly fuses AI-driven technological advancements with human-centric experiences, creating a future-ready model of sustainable luxury travel.

By advancing cultural collaboration, innovation, and emotional connectivity, the DONG Connection Event is poised to redefine the possibilities of travel, crafting new itineraries and opening doors to entirely new worlds of transformative experiences.

American Airlines CEO says merger with United would be ‘bad for customers’

American Airlines CEO Robert Isom on potential United merger: 'A nonstarter from the get-go'

American Airlines CEO Robert Isom said a potential merger with rival United Airlines would hurt consumers and would be anticompetitive.

United CEO Scott Kirby floated the idea of a possible merger with American to a Trump administration official earlier this year, according to people familiar with the matter, eyeing a global expansion that could take on other international carriers.

“Merging the world’s two largest airline together, that was a nonstarter from the get-go,” Isom told CNBC’s Phil LeBeau on Thursday, shortly after the company reported first-quarter results. “At the end of the day there’s no way to view that as anything but anticompletive, bad for customers, ultimately bad for American Airlines, bad for our team.”

Isom declined to say if United made a formal inquiry to American.

“I’m not going to get into details,” he said. On Friday, American issued a statement saying that it is “not engaged with or interested in any discussions regarding a merger with United Airlines.”

President Donald Trump said he was against the idea earlier this week.

“I don’t like having them merge,” he told CNBC’s “Squawk Box” on Tuesday morning. He said he would, however, like someone to buy struggling discount carrier Spirit but he also suggested that the federal government could “help that one out.”

The Trump administration is currently in advanced talks for a rescue package for Spirit that could give the government a significant ownership stake in the discount carrier, people familiar with the matter told CNBC.

American has trailed competitors United — where Kirby previously served as president — and Delta Air Lines, and is trying to catch up through investments in premium products, like new planes and lounges.

American Airlines cuts 2026 earnings projections after surge in jet fuel

An American Airlines flight lands at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Arlington, Virginia, U.S., Nov. 7, 2025.

Nathan Howard | Reuters

American Airlines on Thursday cut its 2026 earnings forecast, becoming the latest airline to lower its outlook after a surge in fuel costs added billions to its expenses this year.

American said it could post an adjusted per-share loss of 40 cents up to earnings of $1.10 a share, lower than the earnings of $1.70 to $2.70 it forecast in January, though Wall Street analysts have been lowering their forecasts for the industry since the U.S.-Israel attacks on Iran this year.

Here is what American reported in the first quarter compared with Wall Street estimates compiled by LSEG:

  • Loss per share: 40 cents adjusted vs. loss of 47 cents expected
  • Revenue: $13.91 billion vs. $13.79 billion expected

Angry cruise passengers say frustrating issue should have been disclosed before booking

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

A major cruise company is under fire from guests and travelers after reportedly shutting down key attractions and not alerting guests before their voyages.

Frustrated passengers onboard Royal Caribbean’s Star of the Seas and Icon of the Seas have been taking to social media to complain that they were not notified that several water slides are closed.

The ships, which debuted in the last two years, are famous for their massive water parks. Located in the Thrill Island neighborhoods, the Category 6 water park areas are 17,010 square feet each. Both ships feature six slides.

CRUISE PASSENGERS COMPLAINED ABOUT CABIN PROBLEM, NOW SHIPS ARE MAKING A BIG CHANGE

Passengers on different sailings claim that up to four water slides have been closed for months.

When Fox News Digital reached out to Royal Caribbean for comment, the company confirmed that a few slides are closed on two of the ships for maintenance.

In August 2025, a guest aboard a Royal Caribbean Icon of the Seas ship captured video of frightened passengers as water poured from a damaged section of the ship’s water slide, Fox News Digital previously reported.

At the time, the cruise line said one passenger was injured in the incident.

“Our team provided medical care to an adult guest when acrylic glass broke off a water slide as the guest passed through the slide. The guest is being treated for his injuries,” a Royal Caribbean spokesperson told Fox News Digital after the incident.

“The water slide is closed for the remainder of the sailing pending an investigation,” the company statement continued.

The current slide closures are unrelated to the August 2025 incident, but repeated issues in the last eight months have become a topic of discussion among Royal Caribbean loyalists.

Guests on multiple sailings say several slides were out of service simultaneously, sometimes for days — limiting access to the ship’s highly advertised water park.

“They advertise the slides on these ships.”

Several people flocked to Reddit this week to voice their frustrations.

“Last week on Icon every slide but one was closed by Thursday. Two slides never opened at all,” one commenter said.

“They advertise the slides on these ships. … I can’t imagine what the kids would have been like if nothing was open. It’s really a bad look,” that Reddit user added.

Another Reddit user said, “The two race slides in the tower with the gravity drop were closed. The green tube slide and the yellow short one were closed as well. So basically we waited an hour and a half to ride two slides.”

A third chimed in, “This is something that should be disclosed prior to sailing.”

On the Royal Caribbean Blog, one passenger disagreed — citing safety concerns.

“The kids might be bummed that the water slides were closed, but better than the kids getting injured,” the reader commented.

GUANGZHOU, China, April 23, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The 139th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) has further optimized its exhibition landscape with nine new dedicated product zones, reflecting ongoing structural shifts in global trade and the continued upgrading of China’s export portfolio.

Among the most closely watched additions in Phase 1 are the consumer and agricultural drone zones, both making their debut at the Canton Fair and offering a focused showcase of applications in the low‑altitude economy. The consumer drone zone showcases progress in flight control, AI‑based obstacle avoidance and energy efficiency across imaging, tourism, emergency response and patrol. The agricultural drone zone highlights precision farming, with spraying, seeding and field‑management demonstrations showing terrain‑following, intelligent route planning, and precise payload control.

On day one, a Shandong‑based drone manufacturer welcomed buyers from 30+ countries, with over 50 strong leads. One buyer, after seeing load and wind‑resistance demonstrations, immediately confirmed three sample units and even proposed becoming a regional distributor.

G-LIDE Timepiece Great for Extreme Sports

TOKYO, April 23, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced today the latest addition to the G-LIDE line of watches for extreme sports, which are part of the G-SHOCK brand of shock-resistant watches. The new GBX-H5600 is the first G-LIDE timepiece featuring a heart rate monitor.

GBX-H5600-2
GBX-H5600-2

Since its debut in 1983, G-SHOCK watches have continued to evolve in functionality, structure, and design, while maintaining outstanding shock resistance. The G-LIDE line, designed for extreme sports, has become popular. It offers features for seaside activities and water sports such as surfing, including a tide graph showing tide levels and moon data indicating lunar phases.

Building on the existing functions for seaside activities, the new GBX-H5600 features a heart rate monitor for the first time in a G-LIDE watch. The watch is designed to support a wide range of activities, from extreme sports such as surfing to everyday workouts.

Equipped with an optical heart rate sensor and an accelerometer, the GBX-H5600 enables real-time monitoring of physical condition during exercise, and it tracks distance, calories burned, and other data. Training functions are available for four activities — running, walking, gym workouts, and interval training — supporting more effective workouts. Data captured by the sensors is transformed into training insights using science-backed algorithms from Polar Electro, a global leader in wearable sports and health technology. Results can be easily viewed in the CASIO WATCHES smartphone app, where detailed data and insights help users manage their health and improve performance.

The display features a high-definition memory-in-pixel (MIP) LCD, providing clear visibility in direct sunlight and other outdoor conditions, no matter what the viewing angle.

The bezel uses translucent resin, creating a see-through design that reveals the internal construction and gives the watch a crisp, refreshing look suited to seaside scenes. Key resin components in the bezel, case, and band are made with bio-based resin, a material expected to help reduce environmental impact, for an environmentally aware design.

0

SHANGHAI, April 23, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — On Earth Day, global travel lifestyle brand NINETYGO, in strategic partnership with Covestro, a world-leading supplier of high-tech polymer materials, unveiled the R-GO Coffee Journey Series prototype at CHINAPLAS 2026. This next-generation luggage concept represents a breakthrough in circular design, with a commercial launch expected to debut first on Amazon.com in Q4 2026.

NINETYGO and Covestro unveil the R-GO Coffee Journey Series, a breakthrough in sustainable travel engineering.
NINETYGO and Covestro unveil the R-GO Coffee Journey Series, a breakthrough in sustainable travel engineering.

From Success to Revolution: The R-GO Evolution

Building on the global commercial success of NINETYGO’s first-generation coffee luggage—currently available across North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia—the new R-GO Coffee Journey Series introduces a radical upgrade in material science.

While the original series pioneered the use of recycled coffee grounds mixed with polycarbonate (PC), the R-GO prototype integrates Covestro’s premium post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials to reach a new frontier of environmental performance:

Carbon Footprint: Shells of a standard 20-inch carry-on  are engineered to produce just 1.19 lbs (0.54 kg) of carbon emissions—a 67% reduction from the 3.4 lbs (1.54 kg) generated by traditional models.

Technical Benchmark: According to Covestro’s technical data, this is achieved by utilizing Makrolon®PCR solution, which reduces carbon emissions from 3.4 kg to 1.1 kg per kilogram compared to the virgin Makrolon® material.

Plastic Efficiency: These shells cut virgin plastic usage by 33.3% per unit.

Certified Integrity: All PCR materials used are validated by UL ECV Environmental Claim Validation and the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), the industry’s most respected benchmarks for recycled content.

A Journey of Balance and Innovation The R-GO series is designed to prove that eco-conscious engineering can coexist with premium durability. In rigorous internal laboratory simulations designed to replicate extreme travel conditions, the R-GO series demonstrated durability performance exceeding the key performance benchmarks of mainstream industry standards by 200%. These evaluations covered critical performance areas including structural impact resistance, telescopic handle fatigue, and multi-terrain wheel endurance—ensuring the series meets the brand’s uncompromising quality benchmarks.

Why NINETYGO? Because 100% is a destination, but 90 is a journey,” stated a NINETYGO spokesperson. “100% implies something finished and static. We adhere to long-termism, focusing on constant innovation that evolves with the traveler. Our collaboration with Covestro allows us to achieve a seamless balance between environmental stewardship and high-performance engineering. We believe true sustainability is only achieved when eco-friendly innovation meets uncompromising durability and functionality.”

Availability The production version of the NINETYGO R-GO Coffee Journey Series is expected to debut first on Amazon.com in Q4 2026, with broader global availability to follow.
