Grizzly bear mauls hiker, drags him dozens of feet on Glacier National Park trail

A hiker who survived a terrifying grizzly bear attack in Glacier National Park is recovering after multiple surgeries — and is now facing mounting medical expenses.

The attack occurred on May 28 on the Grinnell Glacier Trail, one of the park’s most popular hiking routes, according to a fundraising page created after the incident.

The hiker, Daniel Crago, said he and a friend were nearing the end of the trail when he continued ahead to a snow-covered section to take in the views and snap a few photos.

About 10 minutes later, as he began making his way back along the trail, he noticed a smaller grizzly bear nearby.

As he scanned the area, he spotted a larger grizzly on the mountainside about 15 feet away, the fundraising page noted.

Crago said he attempted to alert the animal to his presence — but believes the close encounter may have startled the bear.

“As soon as it saw me, it charged down and attacked me,” he wrote on the GoFundMe page.

The bear bit his arm and dragged him between 20 and 30 feet before running away.

The attack left Crago with a severe arm injury that required emergency medical treatment.

Then, another hiker continuously made noise to discourage the bears from returning, according to the fundraiser page.

Another visitor used a satellite communication device to contact emergency responders and request a medical evacuation.

Crago also said that any money raised beyond his medical expenses will be donated to the U.S. National Park Service.

Glacier National Park is home to about 300 grizzly bears, according to the National Park Service. The park also has roughly 600 black bears, for a total bear population of about 900 to 1,000 bears (the figures are approximate).

Warning over end of financial year sales as shoppers urged to avoid traps

0

Shoppers are being warned to stay vigilant as end of financial year (EOFY) sales flood the market, with consumer experts revealing the hidden traps behind seemingly irresistible deals.

Discount signs are everywhere, with businesses promising massive savings on everything from clothes to tech.

Consumer group Choice said there are actual deals to be found, but not every one is as good as it looks on the surface.

“The end of financial year sales can be a great time to get your hands on that slick new appliance for your home but with many retailers competing for your cash it’s important to know the tricks and traps to avoid getting ripped off or accidentally purchasing a dud product,” Choice spokesperson Mark Serrels said.

One of the biggest pitfalls is buying something just because it is on sale.

Messages like “exclusive offers”, “sale ends soon” or “only one left” are designed to create pressure and promote panic buying, preying on consumers’ fear of missing out.

“Remember, the EOFY is just one sales period,” Serrels said.

“Last year, we saw sales extended into July, so it’s better to take time to do research to ensure you’re grabbing a good bargain.”

Discounted duds

For businesses, end of financial year sales are a strategic way to clear old and poor-performing stock.

“We’ve seen numerous products that performed poorly in our tests having big discounts during the sales,” Serrels said.

Experts advise shoppers to check reviews and compare products, not just prices, before making a purchase.

Shoppers should also watch out for dodgy warranties that will sting at the checkout.

Many provide little benefit beyond protections shoppers are already entitled to under consumer law.

Online shoppers need to be extra cautious during this period.

Scammers often create fake retail websites during major sales events that are designed to steal money and personal information.

“Fake websites have become far too common and when you’re making a purchase that might seem like the real deal, we advise you to double-check before adding it to your cart,” Serrels said.

“Look out for things like unusual URLs, poor spelling, or massive discounts, which signal red flags.”

Gan & Lee Pharmaceuticals Achieves Significant Progress in Its Dual Pipeline for Metabolic Diseases — Weekly Insulin Ludefen (GZR4) Meets Primary Endpoint in Phase III Clinical Trial in China; Bofanglutide Meets Primary Endpoints in Phase III Weight Loss Study in China and Phase II Study in the U.S.

0

BEIJING and BRIDGEWATER, N.J., June 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Gan & Lee Pharmaceuticals (hereinafter “Gan & Lee”, stockcode: 603087.SH) announced that two of its core pipeline products in the fields of diabetes and obesity treatment have recently achieved positive clinical results.

SUPER-3: Insulin Ludefen (GZR4)combined with insulin aspart demonstrated superior HbA1c reduction in adults previously treated with basal-bolus insulin or premixed/dual insulin analogs.

Insulin Ludefen is an investigational ultra-long-acting once-weekly basal insulin analog independently developed by Gan & Lee Pharmaceuticals. The drug’s pivotal Phase III clinical trial in China, SUPER-3, recently met its pre-specified primary endpoint.

SUPER-3 is a 26-week, treat-to-target, Phase 3 clinical trial conducted at 80 medical sites across China (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT06767761). The study enrolled 596 adults with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) who had previously been treated with basal-bolus insulin, premixed insulin analogs or dual insulin analog. It evaluated once-weekly Insulin Ludefen compared with once-daily insulin glargine U100  (Lantus®) injection, both in combination with insulin aspart, with or without non-insulin antidiabetic agents.

The study met its primary endpoint. In patients with T2DM previously treated with mealtime insulin aspart, premixed insulin analogs, or dual insulin analogs, once-weekly Insulin Ludefen, used as the basal insulin component in combination with prandial insulin aspart, demonstrated superior HbA1c reduction versus once-daily insulin glargine U100. After 26 weeks of treatment, compared with the once-daily glargine insulin U100 regimen, the once-weekly Insulin Ludefen demonstrated superiority in reducing HbA1c levels (change from baseline: −1.58% vs. −1.41%); the estimated between-group treatment difference was −0.17%, and this difference was statistically significant (p=0.0021, <0.025). Additionally, Insulin Ludefen demonstrated a higher rate of safe glycemic target attainment: the once-weekly Insulin Ludefen group outperformed the once-daily insulin glargine U100 group on the clinically relevant composite endpoint of achieving HbA1c < 7.0% or ≤ 6.5% without clinically significant (level 2) or severe (level 3) hypoglycemia during the last 12 weeks.

Once-weekly Insulin Ludefen demonstrated a favorable safety and tolerability profile, with no severe (level 3) hypoglycemic events occurring in the Insulin Ludefen group, while three severe (level 3) hypoglycemic events were reported in the insulin glargine U100 group.

The SUPER-3 study focused on a more complex patient population. Compared with insulin-naive patients or those treated with basal insulin alone, patients treated with basal-bolus insulin, premixed insulin analogs, or dual insulin analogs typically had a longer disease duration, more complex treatment regimens, and a heavier daily injection burden. The positive results of the SUPER-3 study further expand the clinical evidence for Insulin Ludefen in patients at different stages of type 2 diabetes treatment, providing key support for the use of once-weekly basal insulin in intensive treatment settings.

Detailed results from the SUPER-3 study are scheduled to be presented at upcoming scientific conferences and published in international academic journals.

About the SUPER Clinical Program

The SUPER program is a large-scale global phase 3 clinical development program for Insulin Ludefen, a proposed once-weekly basal insulin by Gan & Lee. To date, four phase 3 clinical trials have been initiated in China:

SUPER-1: A 52-week trial enrolling 588 insulin-naïve adults with T2DM, comparing the efficacy and safety of once-weekly Insulin Ludefen versus once-daily insulin glargine U100 (Lantus®), both in combination with non-insulin anti-diabetic treatment. Key results after 26 weeks of treatment showed that once-weekly Insulin Ludefen was superior to once-daily glargine insulin U100 in reducing HbA1c.

SUPER-2: A 26-week trial enrolling 631 adults with T2DM previously treated with basal insulin, comparing the efficacy and safety of once-weekly Insulin Ludefen versus once-daily insulin degludec (Tresiba®), with or without concomitant non-insulin anti-diabetic treatment. Key results showed that once-weekly Insulin Ludefen was superior to once-daily degludec in reducing HbA1c.

*Glycated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c): A biomarker that reflects average blood glucose levels over the preceding 2 to 3 months and is the gold-standard endpoint for evaluating the efficacy of anti-diabetic treatment.

The primary efficacy endpoints were derived from the modified intention-to-treat (mITT) population under the treatment strategy, secondary efficacy endpoints from the mITT population under the hypothetical strategy, and safety endpoints from the safety set (SS) population.

Bofanglutide injection: Key Phase 3 Study in China Meets Primary Endpoint

The GRADUAL-1 study is a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase 3 clinical study conducted in adults with overweight or obesity in China (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT06728124). The study enrolled 640 participants who were randomized to receive bofanglutide injection 24 mg, bofanglutide injection 48 mg , or placebo once every two weeks (Q2W) for 52 weeks. Participants had a mean baseline body weight of 93.71 kg and a mean body mass index (BMI) of 33.28 kg/m², with baseline characteristics generally well-balanced across treatment groups.

The results showed that after 52 weeks of treatment, participants receiving bofanglutide injection 24 mg and 48 mg achieved mean body weight reductions of 15.12% and 18.54%, respectively, compared with 1.11% in the placebo group. In addition, 91.8% and 98.1% of participants in the bofanglutide injection 24 mg and 48 mg groups, respectively, achieved at least 5% weight loss from baseline.

In addition, bofanglutide injection also showed comprehensive improvements in cardiovascular and metabolic parameters, including waist circumference, blood pressure, triglycerides, and serum uric acid.

Regarding safety, bofanglutide injection was generally well tolerated in both the 24 mg and 48 mg groups. The safety profile was consistent with that of other GLP-1 RAs. The most common adverse events were gastrointestinal reactions and were mostly mild to moderate and transient, with no new safety signals identified.

The above topline results were based on analyses of the modified intention-to-treat (mITT) population and the safety set (SS).

Meanwhile, a Phase 2 clinical trial evaluating the efficacy and safety of bofanglutide injection in overweight and obese participants in the United States has also met its primary endpoint.

This Phase 2 clinical study (NCT06737042) was a multicenter, randomized, controlled study that enrolled a total of 326 participants across 20 clinical trial sites in the United States. Bofanglutide injection and placebo were administered under double-blind conditions, while tirzepatide injection served as an open-label comparator. The study evaluated the efficacy and safety of bofanglutide injection in adult participants who had inadequate weight control despite lifestyle interventions and had either a BMI > 30 kg/m², or a BMI ≥ 27 kg/m² accompanied by weight-related comorbidities (excluding type 2 diabetes). Participants were randomized to receive bofanglutide injection 24 mg, 36 mg, or 48 mg Q2W or placebo, or 15 mg of tirzepatide injection once weekly for 36 weeks (including a dose-escalation phase).

After 36 weeks of treatment, among participants with overweight/obesity without type 2 diabetes, the 48 mg bofanglutide injection group achieved an average weight loss of 15.18%, with no weight loss plateau observed; the 15 mg tirzepatide injection group achieved a mean weight reduction of 16.93%. Bofanglutide injection also demonstrated significant improvements in cardiovascular and metabolic parameters, including blood pressure, waist circumference, and serum uric acid levels. The most common adverse events were gastrointestinal in nature, including nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea; these events were generally mild and transient, and no new safety signals were identified.

The above top-line results are based on analyses of the Per-Protocol set (PPS).

The Insulin Ludefen SUPER-8 study (a head-to-head comparison with insulin icodec) and other studies in the GRADUAL clinical program of bofanglutide injection are currently underway. Detailed results from these two studies are scheduled to be presented at future scientific conferences and published in international academic journals.

The City of Wanneroo is the fastest growing local government area in Western Australia, taking in 36 suburbs stretching from Koondoola and Alexander Heights in the south to Yanchep and Two Rocks in the north. As the region grows, so do the pressures on households and neighbourhoods — and the breakfast focused on how churches and local government can work together to address the challenges facing people across the city and serve their neighbours.

Mayor Aitken thanked church leaders for their contribution to the community, telling Bruce Chant, who leads Kingdomcity’s Butler campus:

“Thank you for all the work you’re doing to add value to the City of Wanneroo. It’s great to see the churches engaging with the community. We are so happy with our partnership with churches like Kingdomcity to serve the people in our city.”

In her address, the Mayor called for a united effort across her city.

“We are all encouraged to lift people up, loving one another, caring for our community. Together, we must make a lasting difference,” she said.

Nick Scott, who led Mt Pleasant Baptist Church for 29 years, spoke about the unity among Christian churches across the city and their shared commitment to working together for its people, while Ben Gould of the Love Our Suburb initiative from C3 Hepburn Heights closed the gathering by praying a blessing over the people of the city.

Troy Anderson from Kingdomcity in Wangara said the breakfast reflected a genuine sense of hope for the region.

“It was amazing to see leaders and people from different churches and denominations come together to pray for our city,” Pastor Anderson said. “Moments like this remind us that we’re stronger when we work together. I love being part of what God is doing in our community, and I believe as we continue to serve, love people and bring hope, we’ll see lasting change across our city.”

Kingdomcity’s Wangara and Butler campuses serve communities across the City of Wanneroo and form part of the church’s seven campuses across Perth.

In February 2026, The Shilla Seoul was awarded the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star rating for the eighth consecutive year, becoming the first and only hotel in Korea to achieve this distinction. The hotel was also named to Forbes Travel Guide’s Exclusive Group, a recognition reserved for just 51 properties worldwide that demonstrate exceptional service excellence.

HONG KONG, June 11, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — HOZO has announced the global retail launch of NeoSander, a compact reciprocating detail sander developed for precision finishing in model making, DIY projects, and other detail-oriented creative work.

The launch follows a Kickstarter campaign that raised more than US$2 million from over 14,000 backers, reflecting strong international interest in compact, precision-focused tools for makers and hobbyists.

The tool uses a patented linear motor system delivering up to 13,000 strokes per minute. Unlike rotary sanders, its linear motion helps reduce circular scratch patterns and provides more control when working on fine or delicate surfaces.

Compact and cordless, NeoSander is designed for use in areas where larger tools are difficult to handle. It comes with interchangeable sanding heads intended for edges, corners, curves, and other hard-to-reach surfaces.

Typical use cases include scale modeling, 3D print post-processing, woodworking, resin work, and small-scale DIY projects. It is used for tasks such as removing support marks, refining joints, and smoothing surface imperfections across plastic, resin, wood, and metal components.

Key Features

Compact cordless form factor: Palm-sized design intended for one-handed use in detailed work.

Linear motor system: Delivers up to 13,000 strokes per minute with direct reciprocating motion.

Interchangeable sanding heads: Eight head shapes for flat areas, edges, corners, and curved surfaces.

Full grit range included: Eight sanding grits supporting rough shaping through to fine finishing.

Low vibration operation: Designed to improve control and reduce fatigue during longer sessions.

NeoSander replaces bulkier sanding setups with a more portable option aimed at precision-focused work, particularly in small or intricate projects where control is critical.

Availability

NeoSander is available now through:

Inspirational skipper Jordan Dawson inspires fast-starting Crows to Dogs demolition

0

Inspirational Adelaide captain Jordan Dawson has produced a masterful performance to power the Crows to a 57-point thumping of the stunned Western Bulldogs.

Starting as outsiders away from home and having lost to the Dogs earlier in the season, Adelaide charged out of the blocks at Marvel Stadium on Thursday night and never looked back.

The match was over by quarter-time as Adelaide piled on 9.2 — just two points shy of their largest ever first term — to lead by 41 points.

The Bulldogs spent the rest of the margin trying to get back in the contest and briefly threatened to get close, but the Crows finished strongly to win 19.7 (121) to 9.10 (64).

Central to Adelaide’s dominance was Dawson, who is still grieving the tragic death in April of his brother, Jaryd.

But the outstanding left-footer put in a first quarter for the ages, booting three goals from his eight possessions and had two clearances.

Dawson finished with 32 disposals, joined by Sam Berry (29 and 11 clearances), Josh Rachele (four goals) and Riley Thilthorpe (three goals) as starring in the mauling.

Speaking for the first time since losing his elder sibling, Dawson revealed football had given him a sense of purpose during a period of intense sadness.

“I did find myself enjoying footy in the couple of hours to be able to switch off and have real understanding and clarity of what I was meant to do for those couple of hours,” Dawson told Channel 7 on Thursday night.

“I can’t thank the AFL enough, all the captains and obviously the Crows as well.

“They’ve been unbelievable to myself and the family.

“You obviously never wish this upon anyone, but you also don’t realise the support you have and the generosity around you until something like this happens.”

Six days after a rousing comeback win over nemesis Hawthorn, the Bulldogs fell flat in a performance coach Luke Beveridge had been trying to guard against.

Cody Weightman appeared to get the Dogs off to a perfect start when he was mobbed by teammates after kicking his first goal since returning from 18 months on the sidelines.

But with the players having already moved into position, the goal was overturned after replays revealed the ball had been touched.

Weightman eventually got his breakthrough goal late in the third quarter.

Ed Richards was comfortably the Bulldogs’ best with 28 possessions and a goal.

Adelaide’s fifth win from six games lifts them to fifth, jumping above the Bulldogs, ahead of a home clash with Melbourne.

Their only concern was a hamstring injury to Luke Pedlar, who kicked two early goals in his first game for three weeks.

Major cruise line limits fan-favorite trend after passengers say it’s gotten ‘out of hand’

Decorating a Disney Cruise Line cabin door may be a time-honored tradition — but many travelers now say the decor has gotten “out of hand” as streamers, photos and signs often extend into the hallway and onto the ceilings.

Citing the importance of guest safety, Disney Cruise Line is updating its decoration policy. The net result? The door is fine; the hallway and ceiling are not.

“You are welcome to personalize your stateroom door with a tasteful magnetic sign for a celebration — or simply to add a touch of fun!” the cruise line says on the “frequently asked questions” portion of its website.

However, “decorations should only be placed on doors and are not permitted on corridor walls or ceilings,” the website says.

A Disney spokesperson told Fox News Digital the cabin door decorations are here to stay.

Door decorating is especially popular on Disney cruises because of the line’s family-heavy sailings and celebration culture.

Guests often mark birthdays, anniversaries, first cruises, honeymoons, family reunions and holidays with custom magnets, character-themed signs and personalized nameplates.

For many fans, the decorations also serve a practical purpose. Long corridors of nearly identical stateroom doors can be difficult to distinguish, so a small magnet or character display can make it easier to spot a room after a day at the pool or port.

But critics say the tradition has drifted well beyond a simple magnet on the door.

Some travelers complain elaborate displays spill into shared passageways, creating visual clutter and, in some cases, potential obstacles for passengers using wheelchairs, scooters, strollers or other mobility devices.

The updated guidance highlights a broader tension across the cruise industry as lines try to balance traditions with safety.

On Disney Cruise ships, tape and adhesives are not allowed, as they may damage the door.

Over-the-door organizers are also not permitted, as they can cause damage. Decorations with sound or video elements are not allowed.

Cruise passengers who damage doors will be charged $100 per incident to cover repairs, the company says.

Many Disney Cruise Line passengers are applauding the new decision.

“I love to decorate the door, but on our last cruise … some of the decorations were so extensive they made the hallways an obstacle course,” one cruiser said on Reddit.

“It was a nightmare with the wheelchair trying not to get caught on stuff,” the person added.

Another agreed, saying, “I appreciate people’s creativity, but only to a certain extent. The people who do full-blown displays, including a gallery wall of photos from prior cruises, are out of their minds.”

The same cruiser added, “It’s getting out of hand and into fire hazard territory with some of these extensive displays.”

“We did a Very Merrytime last year and were amazed at how many people took over the entire wall next to their door,” a traveler chimed in.

After seeing a photo of hall decorations, another Reddit user said, “This is absolute insanity.”

Still, there are some who believe more is more.

“My daughters are determined to decorate our cruise cabin door like a castle for our upcoming cruise,” a Disney cruiser wrote on Reddit a few months ago.

“[I] saw everything from mini half-mailboxes that were magnetic to streamers to LED lights … I wish I took pictures,” another responded.

Debates over cabin door decorations are nothing new.

Recently, booked passengers on Royal Caribbean International’s Symphony of the Seas received an official notice outlining guidelines for cabin door decorations, according to the Cruise Hive blog.

The policy prohibits “placing materials anywhere on the interior of the ship (including stateroom doors, along corridors, etc.).”

Many cruise operators argue the practice creates safety issues.

Chief among the concerns is the threat of fire.

Carnival Cruise Line’s website says that “decorations may consist only of fire retardant materials” — and adds that “no string lights of any kind are allowed.”
