“I’m incredibly grateful for the trust that’s been shown in me.”

The 28-year-old Victorian was described as an outstanding leader by Cricket Australia’s women’s cricket head of performance, Shawn Flegler.

“We are thrilled for her to take on the role,” he said.

“Sophie is highly respected within Australian cricket, and her resilience, composure and proven domestic leadership makes her the right person to lead the team into a new era.”

Flegler said Molineux’s workload would be closely monitored, with a focus on key tournaments and international series.

“Tahlia McGrath remains vice-captain, recognising her significant leadership contribution under Alyssa Healy,” he said.

“Tahlia has acted as stand-in captain on 16 occasions across formats, providing consistency and stability.

“Ash Gardner has been elevated to vice-captain alongside Tahlia, strengthening the team’s leadership group.

“Ash and Tahlia provide complementary skills in support of Sophie and are also both capable of leading the team as stand-in captain if required.”

Molineux will take the reins for a three-match T20 series against India starting on February 15, with three 50-over clashes to follow, before a one-off Test against the Indians in Perth from March 6.

First Patient Dosed in Pivotal Phase 3 Study of TLX591-Px (Illuccix®) for Prostate Cancer Imaging in Japanese Patients

0

MELBOURNE, Australia, Jan. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Telix Pharmaceuticals Limited (ASX: TLX, NASDAQ: TLX, “Telix”) today announces that the first patient has been dosed in the Phase 3 registration study of TLX591-Px (Illuccix®, Kit for the preparation of 68Ga-PSMA-11) for prostate cancer imaging in Japanese patients. The patient was dosed at Shonan Kamakura General Hospital (SKGH) in Kamakura, Japan.

Illuccix Japan[1] is a Phase 3 prospective, open-label, multicenter study designed to evaluate the detection efficacy and safety profile of 68Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT[2] in Japanese patients with biochemically recurrent (BCR) prostate cancer following prior radical prostatectomy. The study will enroll up to 105 Japanese men at 11 sites and data are intended to support a future marketing authorization application for TLX591-Px in Japan.

The primary objective of the study is to compare the sensitivity of 68Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT to conventional imaging (CT and bone scintigraphy) for the detection of metastatic lesions. Secondary objectives include evaluating diagnostic performance for local and distant lesions, safety and tolerability, and the impact of 68Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT on clinical management decisions.

Commencement of the trial augments Telix’s early access and clinical activities in the world’s second-largest market for nuclear medicine. This includes compassionate use for TLX591-Px in Japan[3], and the Phase 3 ProstACT Global study of TLX591-Tx (lutetium (177Lu) rosopatamab tetraxetan)[4] in advanced prostate cancer, which is now open for enrollment[5].

Dr. David N. Cade, Telix Group Chief Medical Officer, commented, “PSMA-PET[6] imaging has fundamentally changed how we detect and manage prostate cancer, providing greater accuracy and confidence in treatment planning compared with conventional imaging. Yet, access remains limited in much of Japan, where 68Ga-PSMA-11 is not fully validated in the local clinical setting or across all stages of the disease. This milestone, together with Telix’s existing compassionate use supply to address unmet patient need, brings us significantly closer to improving access to gallium-based PSMA-PET and improving outcomes for men living with prostate cancer in Japan.”

About Prostate Cancer in Japan

The Asia Pacific region comprises approximately one-third of the world’s male population and includes many nations whose populations are ageing or increasingly adopting a more affluent, ‘Western-style’ lifestyle, the two main demographic trends driving increasing cancer incidence rates. Consequently, the incidence of prostate cancer is increasing in many parts of the region.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in Japanese men with more than 104,000 new diagnoses each year, and the sixth leading cause of cancer-related death with over 14,000 deaths annually[7].

[3] Since January 2024, Telix has supported compassionate use of TLX591-Px in Japan through site-requested supply, consistent with local regulation.

[5] Japanese regulator Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA) has granted approval for a Japan-specific Part 1 in nine patients, prior to commencing Part 2.

Southwest Airlines forecasts surge in 2026 profits after new seat, bag fees take hold

Southwest Airlines on Wednesday forecast a surge in 2026 profits well above analysts’ expectations as the carrier overhauls its half-century-old business model to include new moneymakers like bag fees and seat assignments.

The airline expects to earn at minimum, an adjusted $4 a share this year, exceeding the $3.19 analysts had anticipated, according to estimates from LSEG. It also forecast capacity growth of 2% to 3% compared with 2025, which could almost double last year’s capacity expansion.

“We wanted to give a little more time before we gave the upper bound of this forecast just to let a little more information come in” about the new initiatives, CFO Tom Doxey said in an interview Wednesday. He said travel demand has been strong.

Southwest stock rose more than 5% in post-market trading after the company’s report.

In the first quarter, Southwest said it expects revenue per seat mile to rise 9.5%, above the 8.5% analysts expected. The carrier forecast adjusted earnings of 45 cents for the first quarter, above the 33 cents Wall Street projected.

“Notwithstanding the impact of Winter Storm Fern, 2026 is off to a strong start, driven by the Company’s Customer-focused product offering, operational excellence, and dramatic progress from the transformational initiatives implemented last year,” CEO Bob Jordan said in an earnings release. The sprawling winter storm forced airlines to cancel thousands of flights, though Southwest’s Texas rival American Airlines has especially struggled to recover from the weather impacts.

Here’s how the company performed in fourth quarter compared with Wall Street expectations, according to consensus estimates from LSEG:

  • Earnings per share: 58 cents adjusted vs. 58 cents cents expected
  • Revenue: $7.44 billion vs. $7.51 billion expected

Southwest has spent much of the past two years making drastic changes to its business model, including ending its open boarding policy and this week moving to assigned seats, which come with upcharges for certain spots, including its new extra legroom section.

Southwest Airlines ended its decades long open-seating policy – here's what travelers think

Last year, the airline began charging customers to check bags for the first time ever and launched basic economy fares. The policies make the longtime industry standout more like its rivals as the airline faces pressure to improve profits.

“We’re not done,” Doxey said Wednesday about the airline’s initiatives. The carriers’ executives have previously discussed the possibiliyt of other ventures. Jordan said in an interview last month that Southwest is exploring airport lounges.

Southwest’s executives are set to face questions from investors in a call on Thursday morning about the cost of the storm, new revenue streams and growth in profits in the coming years, beyond the sales spike from their debut.

Southwest’s fourth-quarter net income rose almost 24% from a year earlier to $323 million, while revenue rose 7.4% to $7.44 billion. Adjusting for one-time items including a reorganization, Southwest posted earnings of $301 million or 58 cents a share, down from $356 million or 56 cents a share a year earlier.

Popular sunny destination to slash 10,000 vacation rentals in affordable housing push

0

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Hawaii Gov. Josh Greene is shaking up the way Americans are visiting the Aloha State by doubling down on the regulation of vacation rentals.

In his State of the State address on Monday, Greene, a Democrat, announced that 10,000 rentals would be removed from the market.

“We also have to return more homes to local families — including short-term rentals that have taken too many units off the market,” said Greene.

HIGH TOURIST TAX IN HAWAII DESIGNED TO RAISE FUNDS FOR CLIMATE CHANGE CHALLENGED BY LAWSUIT

“In the coming years,” he added, “we will support the counties as they bring more short-term rentals back into the housing market — so that more homes go to local families, not absentee investors.”

In May 2024, the governor signed legislation allowing counties to regulate short-term rentals with the goal of providing more affordable housing.

Most recently, the Maui County Council passed a bill on Dec. 15 to phase out thousands of “transient vacation rentals” in apartment districts for the longer term, following the recovery from the devastating wildfires in 2023.

There were nearly 9 million visitors to the state in the first 11 months of 2025, according to preliminary statistics from Hawaii’s Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism (DBEDT).

Tourism numbers were slightly down by .2% compared to the same time period in 2024.

The Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), along with a cruise ship supplier, filed a lawsuit in early September challenging state tax and county finance officials in the Aloha State, as Fox News Digital previously reported.

On Dec. 31, the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issued an injunction pending appeal.

It temporarily blocks enforcement of the cruise-ship tax while the appeals proceed, The Associated Press (AP) reported.

The Transient Accommodations Tax (TAT) was going to raise fees on tourists who stay at Hawaii hotels — while imposing a new 11% tax on cruises, according to the text of the bill.

Global Appeal 2026: Education as the Key to Ending Leprosy Stigma and Discrimination

—  Launch Event in Brussels Will Be Live-Streamed Worldwide —

TOKYO, Jan. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The transformative power of education in replacing fear with knowledge and prejudice with empathy lies at the heart of the Global Appeal 2026 to End Stigma and Discrimination against Persons Affected by Leprosy.

Global Appeal 2026
Global Appeal 2026

The appeal will be launched at a ceremony in Brussels, Belgium, on Thursday, 29 January 2026. The event is being co-hosted by Education International and the Sasakawa Leprosy (Hansen’s Disease) Initiative, in partnership with the Damien Foundation.

Since its establishment by the Initiative in 2006, the Global Appeal has been an annual call to action, aiming to mobilize different sectors of society—ranging from religious leaders and Nobel laureates to nurses and legal professionals—to sign a collective pledge to eliminate the social barriers surrounding leprosy, also known as Hansen’s disease.

Although leprosy is often perceived as a disease of the past, it remains a health and human rights issue. In 2024, 172,717 new cases were reported from 133 countries. Millions of people worldwide live with leprosy-related disabilities, a reality that continues to fuel stigma and discrimination.

Addressing the misconceptions that perpetuate this injustice requires the transformative power of education. This is the message that Education International delivers through the Global Appeal 2026. As the global voice of teachers and education workers, Education International pledges to use its collective voice to promote knowledge, empathy and action, working toward a society in which the dignity of all individuals is upheld.

The launch event, which will be live-streamed worldwide, will bring together persons affected by leprosy, educators, policymakers, healthcare professionals, education unions, and civil society organizations, to reaffirm their shared commitment to dignity, inclusion and the principle of leaving no one behind.

The event will feature testimonials from persons affected by leprosy from Brazil, India, Indonesia and Senegal whose stories highlight the persistence of stigma even after medical cure. There will also be a panel discussion and a multi-stakeholder dialogue.

On the morning of the event, a delegation of persons affected by leprosy and participating stakeholders shall be received in audience by Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of the Belgians.

IPC Shopping Centre Gallops into the New Year with a ‘Just Right, Just Horse-picious’ Celebration

“Just Right, Just Horse-picious”, A Harmonious Fusion of Two Cultures

At the heart of the “Just Right, Just Horse-picious” (马到福到: 刚刚好) celebration stands the harmonious blend of two cultures.

At IPC Shopping Centre, the Fire Horse of the Lunar calendar symbolising passion, determination, and enthusiasm of moving forward, finds a natural rhythm with the Dala horse. This Swedish emblem of resilience is believed to carry just the right amount of luck as the year unfolds.

That is why during this season, IPC Shopping Centre welcomes visitors to embrace their own “horse-picious” luck from the moment they arrive. From small to large Dala horses presented in both modern and traditional designs, these symbolic figures are thoughtfully placed throughout the shopping centre, serving as auspicious carriers of good fortune. As they multiply across every floor, they bring the spirit of balance and prosperity to life in every corner of the shopping centre, making the festive charm truly immersive for every visitor.

Experiencing the Festive Charms

Stepping into IPC this Lunar New Year is like entering a festive wonderland where Dala horses multiply in every corner — big and small, modern and traditional — scattered across the centre as auspicious carriers of good fortune. Anchored at the CNY Marketplace at Concourse, Level G, the festive set-up invites shoppers to slow down, explore, and immerse themselves in the joyful details of the season.

These Dala horses are more than decorative elements; they symbolise balance, harmony, and prosperity — values that resonate deeply during the Lunar New Year. This interactive experience comes to life through the “Count the Dala Horse” challenge, where Tack Club members can put their observation skills to the test by redeeming a contest card at the i-Counter using 10 Tack Points. Three winners with the sharpest eyes and closest answers will be selected on 2 March to win a share of RM1,500, with prizes including RM200 Tack e-vouchers, JBL headphones, and portable Bluetooth speakers.

As families explore the festive installations, they are naturally guided through IPC’s thoughtfully curated offerings — from home essentials at IKEA and Harvey Norman, festive fashion finds at Padini, Skechers, and H&M, to grocery shopping at Ben’s Independent Grocer. Those looking to prepare for the celebrations can also find Lunar New Year decorations and essentials at MR DIY Plus and The Green Party, making IPC a convenient one-stop destination for the season.

Beyond shopping, visitors of all ages can further soak in the festivities with a variety of on-ground experiences held on weekends and public holidays starting 31 January. Highlights include complimentary workshops exclusively for Små Club members, where young ones can craft auspicious Dala horse ornaments and prosperity-themed “Ma’ney Horse” creations.

The celebrations continue with lively walkabouts featuring the God of Prosperity, spreading smiles and blessings throughout the centre. Festive rhythms will also fill the air every Sunday with Chinese waist drum performances, Five Emperor drum performances, and traditional lion dances, creating a joyful backdrop for family reunions and gatherings.

The festivities will reach a high note on the first day of the Lunar New Year with a special Acrobatic Lion Dance performance by the award-winning Yi Meng Lion Art Troupe (一鳴獅藝舘) at 11am. Held at the Courtyard, Level G (behind Machines), this high-energy performance promises a spectacular and auspicious start to the year.

While the advisory highlighted the winter storm that has swept across many parts of the U.S., bringing heavy snow, dangerous winds and disruptions at major airport hubs, officials also referenced the political climate in the U.S.

Authorities added “demonstrations/clashes with the migration and security authorities” to the advisory for German travelers to the U.S.

Tensions have heightened in the past few days after the most recent deadly shooting involving federal officers, while demonstrations have led to many arrests and property damage.

The president insisted Tuesday that the removal of Border Patrol commander Greg Bovino from Minnesota is not a “pullback,” while also lamenting the shooting deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti by federal agents.

“There also remains an increased risk of politically motivated violence.”

“It was terrible. Both of them were terrible,” Trump said in an exclusive interview Tuesday on “The Will Cain Show.” “I hate to see it. I hate to see that.”

The advisory also references the “domestic political situation” in the U.S.

American Airlines projects revenue growth for 2026, misses earnings estimates for fourth quarter

0

American Airlines projected Tuesday that its focus on premium will “begin delivering results in 2026” as the carrier races to catch up to its far more profitable rivals and capitalize on strong demand from high-spending customers.

The Fort Worth, Texas-based airline projected it will deliver nearly $2 of improvement in adjusted earnings per share at the midpoint over last year.

American also expects to earn 7% to 10% more revenue in the first three months of 2026 compared with 2025.

American’s stock fell 7% Tuesday.

Here is how American performed in the fourth quarter compared with Wall Street estimates compiled by LSEG:

  • Earnings per share: 16 cents adjusted vs. 34 cents expected
  • Revenue: $14 billion vs. $14.03 billion expected

American posted net income of $99 million, or 15 cents per share, down from $590 million, or 84 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenue was up 2.5% from last year. Excluding net special items, the company reported adjusted earnings per share of 16 cents.

“American Airlines is positioned for significant upside in 2026 and beyond,” CEO Robert Isom said in a statement. “We have built a strong foundation, and we look forward to taking advantage of the investments we have made in our customer experience, network, fleet, partnerships and loyalty program.”

The airline also said the government shutdown negatively impacted fourth-quarter revenue by approximately $325 million.

“Fourth quarter, it hit us hard,” Isom said on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” on Tuesday morning. “The government shutdown hit us, it hit us harder than others. … The good news on that is that as soon as the government shutdown got over, we’ve seen bookings return.”

American said this weekend’s winter storm, which marked Sunday as the largest flight cancellation day since the pandemic hit in early 2020, has resulted in a 1.5 percentage point reduction to the company’s first-quarter 2026 capacity guidance, along with an estimated negative revenue impact of $150 million to $200 million.

American said Monday that five of its nine hub airports were disrupted by the storm, including its largest hub at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. On a call with analysts Tuesday, Isom said the airline had to cancel more than 9,000 flights over the past four days, making it the largest weather-related disruption in its history.

The airline said passenger unit revenue was down 2.5% year over year, though that number would have been positive without the impact from the government shutdown. Premium product offerings continued to perform well, with year-over-year premium unit revenue outpacing the main cabin for the fourth quarter.

“I like where we’re headed,” Isom told CNBC. “Premium traffic is going to stay strong, and our product, again, is resonating.”

American has been revamping its fleet, lounges, and food and beverages to draw in customers who are willing to spend more on premium tickets and co-branded credit cards. Rivals Delta Air Lines and United Airlines are far in the lead, however, and account for almost all of the industry’s profit.

Boeing’s quarterly sales jump 57% as CEO says there’s ‘a lot to be optimistic about’

How Boeing turned things around after years of decline

Boeing reported revenue ahead of Wall Street expectations for the fourth quarter as the company’s turnaround picked up steam following years of crises.

The company’s airplane deliveries last year were the highest since 2018, helping drive revenue. Boeing brought in $23.9 billion in the last three months of 2025, a 57% increase over the same period in 2024 and topping analysts’ expectations. Cash flow of $400 million was roughly double what Wall Street was expecting.

CEO Kelly Ortberg told staff that the company is making progress and that there’s “a lot to be optimistic about” in 2026.

“At the same time, with progress comes expectations, and our customers and stakeholders are going to expect more from us this year,” he said.

Ortberg told CNBC’s Phil LeBeau on Tuesday that the company is expecting positive free cash between $1 billion and $3 billion for 2026.

“That’ll continue to grow as we ramp up production and deal with some of these headwinds that we have to cash flow in the near term,” he said. “We’re marching to this $10 billion free cash flow number and it’s going to take us a little bit of time but we’ve got a methodical plan to get there.”

Here’s how Boeing performed in the fourth quarter, compared with analysts’ estimates compiled by LSEG:

  • Loss per share: $1.12 adjusted vs. a loss of 39 cents expected
  • Revenue: $23.95 billion vs. $22.6 billion expected

That adjusted loss per share excludes a $9.6 billion gain on Boeing’s sale of its Jeppesen aircraft navigation unit. Boeing said that sale boosted its earnings by $11.83 per share, and stripping that out left an adjusted loss of $1.12 per share.

The company beat Wall Street estimates on its commercial airplane revenue, reporting $11.38 billion versus $10.72 billion expected, according to StreetAccount. That marked a nearly 140% increase from the year prior. Its defense unit revenue rose 37% from the fourth quarter of 2024 to $7.42 billion.

Boeing still has a long road ahead to deliver delayed aircraft — some of which haven’t yet won regulator approval — to customers around the world.

Boeing delivered 600 airplanes to customers last year, nearly double the number from 2024 and the most since 2018. Ortberg, who came out of retirement to run the manufacturer in 2024, and other executives have said more production increases are on the horizon in the coming months.

Deliveries are key for aircraft manufacturers because customers pay the bulk of an aircraft’s price when they receive it.

For Boeing, it’s a crucial ramp-up after the company has burned through roughly $40 billion since the first quarter of 2019 — when the second of two fatal crashes of the bestselling 737 Max plunged it into crisis for years — through the third quarter of 2025. The Covid-19 pandemic, residual supply chain and labor shortages, and a host of production problems have continued to hamstring the company, the largest U.S. exporter by value.

Boeing handed over 63 jetliners to customers last month, and 44 of those deliveries were 737 Maxes, the manufacturer said earlier this month.

Airbus still delivered more aircraft last year than Boeing, with 793, though that total is below the record 863 airplanes the European manufacturer handed over in 2019.

But Boeing outsold Airbus with 1,173 net orders in 2025 over its European competitor’s 889 net orders for the year. Airlines are starting to look out to the 2030s, securing delivery slots as they chart growth and replace older, more fuel-thirsty planes. Boeing counts Alaska Airlines and Delta Air Lines as customers in recent weeks for deliveries into the next decade.

Boeing is far from out of the woods, though. Investors will be eager to hear from the company’s leadership about what delivery pace is most realistic this year. The manufacturer still needs the Federal Aviation Administration’s approval for further Max increases beyond 42 per month, a requirement the regulator instated after a near-catastrophic midair blowout of a panel in January 2024.

Investors are likely to seek a firmer timeline for long-delayed 737 Max 7 and Max 10 certification as well as the twin-engine 777X, which will become the largest wide-body in its lineup. They are also looking for an update on Boeing’s defense business, where delays have included the two 747s that will serve as the next Air Force One aircraft.

Boeing reported fourth-quarter net income of $8.22 billion, or $10.23 a share, up from a loss $3.86 billion, or a loss of $5.46 billion, a year earlier.

Boeing executives will host an earnings conference call at 10:30 a.m. ET.
